From Little Richard to Matthew Sweet. Spanning the decades! Girlfriend and Sugar's Copper Blue were in heavy rotation in my personal 1993(?) soundtrack.

Robert Quine did a lot of great guitar work, but this is my favorite solo of his. Such a tragic end for a brilliant player.

sweet! pun intended! i spent hours learning opening lead but never quite got a handle on the middle lead after the first few bars and you freakin crushed it. I'm going to have to give it another go.

Shtan Richard Lloyd plays on some other tracks on the Girlfriend album. Quine was amazing (check out Richard Hell and the Voidoids" Blank Generation"-a punk classic with for some killer Quine guitar). Richard Lloyd is also an incredible player. Check out Television's Marquee Moon for a classic guitar lover's track where he trades licks with Tom Verlaine.

JJ, when you play this tune are you hitting the full B and C# chords or are they the 5th chords? It gets hard to tell at times. I love the SG you’re playing. It is going to be my newest guitar added to my collection. I love the action on the SG. The brake in the guitar was great. You took a drink of coke and when the guitar up started you didn’t miss a lick. That was too cool, the Coke Co should be paying royalties.

I just wanted to say... I watched you final video on you old PT channel. As another older guitar player (I'm 46 BTW) I appreciate all that you have shared. Yes, I've swapped out a chord or 2 from how I see you play it... big deal. To my ear a different voicing is better... FOR ME. But you helped get me to the point to find that different chord. I don't care if you post my comment, this is just me telling you... Thank you.

Great video as always. I noticed your neck pickup has the poles closer to the bridge than the neck. Did it come that way new? I've never seen that before

Grant Wallace That's the Peter Green modification, reversing the polarity for out-of-phase tones.

That whole GF album is probably like the best album in 90s guitar rock. Timeless really, doesn't sound too dated, especially production wise.

Agreed. Every time I revisit the album I am blown away by the guitar work. Find something new to drop my jaw. Robert Quine, Richard Lloyd, and Matthew is no slouch on rhythm guitar either.
