@@FredoDeMerced It is not unlawful. I used to work at Walmart. I worked during the holidays when thiefs take the most advantage. We were trained to only stop customers and check receipts when there were items that were not bagged. Including small things like sodas. It's literally in our training. I was pregnant then, high risk at that, and there were still customers who gave me a hard time and I was only doing my job. This is Walmart's way of hindering thieves. There is nothing unlawful about that. If you paid for it then it should not be a problem to show your receipt when asked. Most people respected it and understood the assignment. The assholes gave me a hard time. It actually makes you look even more suspicious when you don't. But checking receipts is not just for thieves. There were also many customers who legitimately missed an item they didn't pay for and many self scanning customers who paid for items more than once and didn't even realize it. By checking their receipt I caught these as well and saved many from over spending and having to come back to the store once they got home. There have been many customers that have also come back to pay for items they missed when using self check out. So yeah keep that in mind. I myself, even before working at Walmart, never had a problem showing my receipt when asked. No one has ever accused me of stealing or was disrespectful and acted aggressive when asking for my receipt. I would say some of these actions I've seen in these videos are overboard though. I ask for it. It's either you can show it or you won't. If not then I'll just report it and give a description. Walmart has many cameras and their loss prevention doesn't play. I would rather just show my receipt and be on my way instead of causing a scene.
@ellasmommy9278

It is not unlawful. It is store policy. It is perfectly legal for him to ask you for your receipt as well as it is legal for you to refuse (state specific). However any store that has a club membership (Walmart +) can ask. I'm one of the old women asking you if I may please see your receipt? I don't want to do it, I'm just doing my job. Don't make it any harder. And if you have something big like a PS5, printer, TV, a $200 Keurig, Hoverboard, Shark vac, bicycle, refrigerator, we will ask, whether you go through a line or not. The only time I get upset about the receipt request is if they wait until after I pass them to ask for it or if there's a line to walk out the door so I just walk by. I am definitely not waiting in line to leave the store. And if you don't ask for my receipt before I walk by, you snooze you lose.

It a shame that they put these older folks thru this...shame on you Walmart!...EDIT: being that many people didn't get my drift...My point is, with all the confusion, on everyone's part, on the legality of "the receipt checkers." Walmart obviously wasn't clear with their training for these positions. We wouldn't be seeing these confrontations, arguments, employees blocking carts from exiting the store, cops being called uselessly..
