I watched this video three times and then, using your suggestions about removing the horn and leaving the bracket on the right side until the end, installed a set of Givi bars on my bike. I had some trouble getting the front engine mount bolt on the right side to undo. It was stuck fast but a bit of heat with a heat gun helped. Also be sure with these bolts to get your socket to sit square as the heads are quite soft and can easily round off. Thanks for another great video.

I installed the Givi guards rather then the OEM or SW-Motechs as they came up a bit higher (more bits protected). No issues installing them, but two things since. #1 - I find it easier to completely remove the tank when doing valves. It's less work than fiddling around and wiggling bits to get clearance. #2 - Access to the gearbox fill plug is blocked (for normal tools). I wound up cutting a 10mm hex key down on the short end and unbolting the rear brake reservoir to provide space for wrench movement. I now need to keep that modified key with the bike's tool kit so that it doesn't disappear.

@@Roomer645 There was an issue with a number of 2020 bikes that left the factory with little to no oil in the gearbox. I was a lucky winner. As all of the fluids were filled at the factory, there was no procedure for dealers to verify levels - and for the gearbox, there's no way to check it other than to drain, measure and refill. I bought the Isotta crash bars for mine but the bike is at the dealership waiting for new Cylinder heads, valves, etc. It is a 2021 V85TT with 1,100 miles on it. The titanium valves are on a recall, the bike never idled right since new, the left cylinder run hotter and when the engine was hot the pinging with 94 octane was so bad rendering the bike un-rideable. If your bike is a 2020 or 2021 check your Vin numbers, you may need to do some major engine work. @@cubbysue Very few bikes affected. There were about 60 in Germany and possibly another 60 here in the States.. The recall is all about defective valves, not up to manufacturer specs. If there's no damage, they replace the intake valves only. If they stick in the guide and visible wear then the entire head assembly gets replaced. My bike idled very badly and there were no codes. Finally, right where I was about to give up, I called AF1 and determined that there's a recall on it. Upon opening the engine we found that the valve seats were also partly caked with carbon, it seems like the intake valves either were sticking or not sealing the port correctly and plenty of gasses were pushed back in the intake. Lets see when Moto Guzzi will send the parts. Other than that......the bike has been awesome.

Looks like you said there’s a 13mm bolt that needs to be removed from engine in order to put in the 17mm bolt head that secures the bottom part of the bars right? I’m thinking that the previous owner snapped that 13mm bolt because when I go to insert the 17mm bolt to secure the bottom part of the bars it doesn’t grab anything. I looked inside that engine Mount and don’t see any thread. That’s why I’m thinking that the bolt was snapped and it’s stuck inside. What’d you think?
@cubbysue
4 ай бұрын
Can you verify that the bolt is broken off? Can you see it in there with a flashlight? If that bolt is broken off inside for the engine mount, that is going to be a problem. Access to that bolt is very restricted. Trying to drill the bolt to extract it is going to be difficult with the engine in the bike. It is doable though. It's not a very deep bolt, but if it is snapped off, it may be because it was overtightened. Either way, that bolt going into the block of the engine is an integral part of the strength of the frame. The engine literally is hanging from the frame from those bolts. I'm sorry to hear that it is broken off. That my be a job best suited for your dealership or a machine shop. If you plan to attempt to remove it yourself, I would center punch the broken bolt with a transfer punch that fits tightly in the hole. You want to drill as centered into the bolt as you can. Good luck, and let us know how this mess turns out.
@daveotis4635
3 ай бұрын
@@cubbysue once again you were right. Bolt was broken off inside. Tried extracting it but it was too much of a b?!ch since it’s deep inside. What I ended up doing was just threading the cylinder open area before the bolt. Engine Mount should be fine since that original bolt isn’t going anywhere. On a side note, this bike is relatively new to me. I noticed on the freeway that it was to rev pretty high to do decent freeway speeds. Is this normal? For example: 75-80mph = ~5000rpm
