Howzit gang, so taking a break from fishing in this episode. Me and my son volunteered to help the peeps at Paepae o He'eia. We start our day on the road driving thru a rainy H3 freeway heading toward the Windward side. Soon after arriving at the loko i'a, staff member Keahi breaks down what the mission is for the day is and then a Pule(prayer) before we break up into smaller huis. Once in our hui we head to our section of wall and our group leader Ka'eo explains everything we need to know about working with pohaku(rock). Then the fun begins. Much hard work, learning, laughing, getting dirty--and even a sore time(as sistah Lehiwa experienced). Much mahalos to my awesome group: Ka'eo, Micah, Dre, Rosie, Autumn, and Lehiwa. They really worked hard and communicated effectively to get the job done. We finished our section way early and helped out the hui next to us finish their section. Ono laulaus were served for lunch which made the whole day complete. We will definitely volunteer again. Big Mahalos to the staff at Paepae o He'eia. Also special thanks to Jeep Briones, Alan Akaka, Hungry Fisherman, and Trey Terada for helping me with some of the sweet Hawaiian music used in this video. Please help support Paepae o He'eia and Hawaiirhino Fishing by smashing that like button, and also by signing up to volunteer @paepaeoheeia.org
