Deep pressure therapy isn't just psychological. It's to do with the parasympathetic nervous system itself I believe tho I would have to find the exact science. It works on all mammals as far as I know. There's a machine that does nothing but hold and sqeeze cows and other livestock while they get examined.

I used to do this for my dog. One by one, his mother, his brother, his father, and even my aunt, one of his owners all passed away in under 2 years. The poor thing couldn't even bring himself to go outside without us re training him. Whenever I'd have an anxiety/panic attack or ended up in tears he'd always sit in front of me and lean back or to the side to let me hug him. And once he started having anxiety and getting depressed, he'd do the same. He'd nudge himself under/between my arms, lean in and would stare at me until I hugged him tight. And once I did he'd lean his head on my shoulder. I miss him

I'd often lay down a blanket and cuddle on the floor with him. I did it so much that one time I tried to use a blanket to do that disappearing behind the blanket and running into the other room trick, the second the blanket touched the floor I couldn't do it because he took it as "cuddle time" and laid down on it lol. Depending on where you live it's actually illegal to charge a pet deposit for a service animal. In the U.S. under the ADA if an animal is medically necessary you cannot be charged more for having it.
