It was nice to see a pic of the ABC Riddrie. It was here I had my first cinema experience. A sword and sandal epic featuring an army of golden men who were impervious to the arrows fired at them. Completing the double was a long forgotten western. A double bill of full colour big screen movies. It was 1963 I was 6yrs old only used to the monochrome of tv. From that day to this ive had a profound love of cinema. Even although ive forgotten the name of that first film I saw. The thrill, the excitement the awe , will be with me my entire life. ( ive had numerous haircuts at the barber shop next to it too). Cinema is my second home.

Anyone notice there’s hardly any litter about in those days, how people have changed, no respect for their country, sad 😢

Follow your picture history always. Have you ever come across a view of the interior of of Battlefield Rest showing the mural on the wall of the lady with the caption 'Signal thus to stop the bus" . Please publish if you have. Would like to produce a colour illustration of it. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

4:05 What a magnificent building. It stood tall and proud like a castle. Later to be replaced by a 'greenhouse'. Never saw it myself but I think if I had my heart would be broken now...

It was a beautiful building that would have lasted for many generations. Another part of Glasgow's history just swept away.

I remember a doddery, old Glasgow Councillor being interviewed on TV just before demolition. He assured us that the City would make sure that a building was constructed that we would be proud of. Look what they built. Utterly shameless people who run our city and country. I never forgot that. I knew he was lying and he knew.
