Beautiful and well explained! It looks very heavy! Is that an issue with the “stem” connection or in a breeze?

That’s a great question. We did have one fall over and break because it wasn’t in the ground deep enough. Also we broke one from over tightening. That’s the only problems we’ve had.

Those diamond drill bits are a little pricey, can I just use E-6000 or good marine glue.
@bkdesignconcepts
2 жыл бұрын
I don’t really know but you certainly could try. It is holding a good bit of weight and the connector on the back would have to be bigger with more surface to glue.

You already have a soldering iron and welding setup?!?
@llm4132
7 ай бұрын
@@melindaostergren8115 No I do not. What I did end up doing was taking a half dozen fittings and a dozen of the flat washers to someone that does have that setup. It cost me $25 to have him assemble 12 of them for me. I did the rest myself. So glad I did because they turned out great and are very secure.

With respect, this process is wildly impractical for the average DYIer. Your directions are excellent; they are clear and precise. But it is one thing to drill through glass; even soldering is reasonably straightforward and simple to do. Bending pipe? You make it look simple but it requires strength and dexterity. And welding? Really?

Great tutorial!!! May I ask how you curled the edges of the copper square? I don't have a full workshed and I'm having trouble with this part. Much appreciated!

Great question. I put the corner of the copper square in the vase about a1/4”and hammered it flat. And then finished bending it with some pliers around the wire. This was to give it more soldering surface.

You're video is excellent! It took me a few weeks to figure out all the steps but I'm wondering if you've found a diamond drill bit that will last for more than 10 plates. I first used my dremel because it's so light but the diamond bit cost $26 and after about 10 holes it's useless. I also bought a bosch diamond bit for my Makita drill but it also doesn't last long. Thank you for your response.

@@marilynbiffin3208 I don’t know if it is UV resistant here is a link images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/e1/e14acdbe-97be-482c-a89c-2db948169202.pdf I actually like e6000 For that application.

@@marilynbiffin3208 the data you want is the heat factor. You can research this by just typing in the question to your browser. Or check the packaging. Marine Goop and E-6000 are heat rated to 180 which is not what it seems. Plus glass and ceramics absorb and retain heat if you live in a hot climate. (CA, AZ, TX, FL etc) have indicated they've had issues with glue. It all depends on where you live. You can also try 100% silicone which is heat rated to 400. It's made for exterior windows and it super strong and easy to work with. Clear silicone is not perfectly clear...a cloudy clear. But depending on where it is applied, it won't show anyway. Good luck with your garden art!
