its probably because he was suppose to detach the horse sculpture from the rod and make a tail, but the glass cooled off before he could do it.

This is at the Tacoma museum of glass, it's the best museum on the west coast live glassblowing every single day. The gentleman making the horse is Nick davis a highly talented glass worker

Glassblowing has a very misleading name although this is technically glassmaking or hot sculpting it just happenes to be that "glassblowing" is the name that caught on even tho blowing the bubble part is a fraction of the glassmaking .

my mums first job at the age of 13 was glass blowing in the east end of London when she was a kid of 13. She was one of many glass blowers, they used to take turns to spend 30 minutes in the shop window demonstrating their skills so the shoppers would be attracted into the shop to buy.

One of my instructors can do this and he told me it took him about 6 years to actually master it, so don't think this is easy because of how easy the artist makes it look. Its all about timing, feel, and practice. I am hoping I too can be good enough to make one of these myself.

I am fairly sure this is on the Island of Murano, near Venice (Italy, for the geographically impaired). It's really cool to see this video, as I wasn't filming when I saw it in person, and seeing the horse appear is just amazing.
