lovely video Lisa - I think aqua is one of my favourite colours and I understand you buying so many! It's interesting to see you using glazes other than the velvets - more great info so thanks for that. And kiln openings - whoop whoop - all great stuff :)

Is the a video on how you made the pumpkin stuff

Sorry, no, not for that type. They're basically just round plates with cut-out leaves from cookie cutters, and a hand-formed stem. 😀

I was looking for a how to on the pumpkin plates as well. They are just gorgeous!! I was wondering how you do all of the stem work on them without the plate bowing on that end? Do you leave the plate in the mold? Thanks so much Lori!

Yes, I leave the plate in the mold, wrap them in plastic, and let them dry very slowly.

These pumpkin plates have to be one of my favorite things you make!!! I love them!!!! School Specialty is the name of the site you were trying to remember. I heard you say you’re using BMix. Have you had any problems with your clay not vitrifying? I had to stop using Laguna clays because of the inconsistencies. Especially the problems with vitrification! I had to throw away soo many pots because of it. I absolutely love the idea of applying just enough glaze to the bottom to make sure it isn’t so stark white! Thanks so much for that tip!

School Specialty, YES! 😀 Hmmm, I have not done any vitrification tests on my pieces, except for the 266, and I did not see any leakage. I use pieces of mine with the B-Mix, and have never noticed them leaking, but have not done an actual test. I fire to cone 5, with a 10 or 15 minute hold, which gets me to about cone 5.5. Since Laguna says cone 4 to 6, I figured the pieces should be vitrified, or pretty close to it. But your testing is showing leakage? What cone do you fire to? And do you use witness cones? 🤔

Thank you! Yes, I am loving these pumpkin plates as well. Guess I'll have to do a video on it. 😀

@@WildAcornsArtStudio I do use witness cones on every shelf. I have an old kiln sitter kiln so I put the witness cones in front of the peep holes and that is what I go by to turn my kiln off. ALOT of people had vitrification issues with BMix and Laguna was of no help and said to just fire it hotter! I fire to a cone 6 but my bottom shelf is always a 7 and I still had problems with them not being vitrified. About 90% of my pots are utilitarian so the clay absolutely hasto be vitrified.

Oh wow, that's terrible. I had heard that people were not too happy with the broad cone range that they had listed on their boxes. To think the clay is vitrified at cone 4, is ridiculous and very misleading. I'll have to do some tests on mine and at the Rec Center. 🤔

Says that western orange is not food safe..can you apply clear over it?
@WildAcornsArtStudio

Mine reads that it is food safe right on the front of the label. There are warnings at the bottom of the label, in small print, but most likely because it's made in California, which has extreme safety warnings. If you apply a clear glaze over it, it most likely will run. I have been using it for years on plates, and personally, I feel very safe using it. If you don't feel safe, you should probably find another glaze.
