Hi,@@jeffwisener1378 There are always leaders in bands. Together- Glenn Frey and Don Henley were the leaders of the Eagles. One would only have to ask Joe and Tim today to verify this. As a team, it's true, The Eagles had their issues with one another. That said, what great band hasn't? This isn't just a statement. Can you name one mega- successful, world-famous, long-lasting, band that hasn't had internal personality issues within the band at some point?

It's such a shame Glen croaked after having surgery in a New York hospital. At age 67 Glen had so much to contribute to the future of the Eagles and life itself. I'm glad the surviving band members were able to press forward and continue to play concerts. Adding Vince Gill and using Glen's son to round out the reformed Eagles proved to be a winning formula and the best way forward for everyone involved.

Jackson Browne wrote Take it easy, start to finish. He should have acknowledge that and while "The Eagles" (whom I love) definitely made "Country Rock" mainstream, they did not invent it or create it, as he seems to suggest. Many bands, including Buffalo Springfield, Flying Burrito Brothers, and even the Monkees, were doing Country Rock before The Eagles. The Eagles perfected it and for that he should take full credit.

I caddied 3 days for Glenn at Augusta Nat'l as he was the guest of a former Master's winner.. On day 2, we're walking up onto the 14th green, and Stadler, his host, queries brusquely, "What do you lie?" Glenn turns around and motioning with his finger, starts counting his strokes... Before I could stop my wise-ass mouth, I piped in, in full melody, "You can't lie, you're lyin' five." Immediately his eyes crinkle in bemusement, and he retorts, "Where did you hear that?" "Off the cuff" He points to his bag and says, "Grab that green thing in that bag-pocket." Lo and behold, there was a C-note in that pocket...and BOOM! a hundred dollar tip o' the tam." Told this (true) story to Vince, not long after Glenn's death...and he too, giggled... What a day, what a moment, what a life, what a singer, what a life..... Love ya, Glenn...

The great thing about the Eagles was they were a band where everyone played a special role contributed their talents , creativity and sound as well as the song writing..Joe Walsh was the finishing touch! Take any one person out of the band and IMO it's no longer the Eagles. The riffs were just as important as the vocals. It's a shame that Glenn didn't understand that and got all caught up in the business aspect, It was Don that wrote their most successful song of the Eagles existence. Glenn could only dream of writing or playing a song that complex because he was simply no where near the guitar player Don was..R.I.P Glenn

I think Americans don't pronounce the 'e' in names. Joyce Meyer, the evangelist, pronounces her name MYER, but it is spelt Meyer, and yesterday I watched a crime documentary about a woman called Nicole Vanderheyden, and they pronounced it Vanderhyden. So they miss out the 'e'. It is the same in every interview, they all call him Fry. If you hear news bulletins from when he died, the newscasters also call him Fry. No-one ever called him 'Fray'. Don't forget Frey didn't correct him, so he thinks it is OK to be called Fry.

The Eagles success was largely a contribution of artistic friends who added their talents in song writing. Glenn and Don didn't write all those hits, there were many others, Jackson Browne, David Blue, Tom Waits, JD Souther, Bob Seeger, Jack Tempchin, Steve Young and others who wrote or co wrote many Eagles songs. Glenn and Don just took the lions share of the credit for it all.

I don't like most of the Eagles songs (sure a few I do) and they are a poor man's Buffalo Springfield. Glenn Fry solo hit The One who Loves You is a so good. But the Eagles were slick from almost the start .. you tell 'em Bob. Life in the Fast Lane, Victim of Love, Take it too the Limit .. yeah i know these are loved songs but i can't listen to them. Better are Tequila Sunrise, Take it Easy and Peaceful Easy Feeling are good. But compare them to the Buffalo Springfield (Neil Young and Steve Stills) Mr Soul, Upside Down, On the Way Home, Expecting to Fly, Rock and Roll Woman, For What it's Worth, Sad Memory. Jackson Brown was prolific and better than the Eagles but he is not in the league with Neil Young, Dylan, The Replacements or even Marshall Crenshaw, The Kinks, The Beatles, Warren Zevon.

Agree with you that Tequila Sunrise and Peaceful Easy Feeling were good tunes but a lot of their work seemed contrived and mediocre. Jackson Browne's first five albums were all superb. I suggest you have a good listen to those. Check out Bruce Springsteen's induction of JB into the Rock N Roll hall of fame. He rates Jackson's album " Late for the sky" as a "masterpiece" as do many others including various respected ROLLINGSTONE scribes.
