This is the kind of music I grew up on back in the '30s. Somehow I can't help but feel the kids nowadays simply are missing a lot in life. We had fun and freedom they simply don't seem to have now, and that is a real shame. A lot of the time we danced slow and held our girl close.

Richard Cunningham Believe me, as someone involved in my high school's music program, there are still many adolescents exposed to this music who also enjoy it.

Matthew Wallenhorst Great! Actually it's part of our history and should be remembered. Of course I must admit I'm just a bit slanted in my views about that era.

Hermosa música, dirigida por el excelente e inigualable Glend Miller. Gran calidad orquestal. Fantástica!! Melodías que hacen soñar en el romanticismo. Genial. Gracias.

MaestroPS2008 I agree!! Also the reed section's vibrato is very very very VERY drawn out!! Every leader is different, however.

To re-use a quote from the SF Chronicle's Herb Caen many years ago, the sax section's vibrato on MS is so wide you could drive a truck through it.

I feel sorry that you feel so negatively about a brilliant artist and his music. I was brought up listening to Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington, ect., and I'm greatly the better for it. This was the music of my parents. I miss them very much, but when I get to listen to the big bands, they take me back to my childhood and a much happier time. Too bad for you.

@@margaretmock6637 I think the reference was towards the current US version of the GM Orchestra. I agree, it is absolutely dreadful and in my opinion, an insult to the memory of Glenn Miller.

@@m.j.mcilroy5470 I agree you see this guy wasn’t calling the music itself horrible, he was simply saying that the players in this orchestra made it sound horrible especially when their vibrato was toooo wide. You know I’m 16 and been playing saxophone since I was in 5th grade (11) and one of the reasons why I chose sax was because of the song auld Lang syne by guy Lombardo (1947 version) and I LOVED the old saxophone sound and I made it sound pretty similar. Anyways my dream is to maybe one day form a band of my own and try to re create the old sound from the 30s-40s. I have an idea that I could use to find it and fix the orchestras sound once again.
