My uncle was a part of the Glenn Miller Orchestra for at least 10 years, I believe. He recently passed away. So it was really nice being able to see/hear this video of him playing with the Orchestra. My dad died in 2004 at the age of 83 and loved this song. He was a world war two vet and loved this country so much. As I get older it makes me realize more each day how proud I am of my father and all those who lived in that era and are now gone... it's really sad because they are almost all gone now. This music takes us back to the time when a great pleasure of adolescence was for a boy and a girl or a man and a wife to go dancing to such romantic music. If music be the food of love play on l say. I grew up with the Big Band Era music. My dad absolutely loved it. And so do I. Glenn Miller is my favorite of all those bands. I've seen the movie so many times that I can't even count, even bought the DVD. "In The Mood" just makes me want to get up and dance, but my favorite is "Moonlight Serenade". His band does a great job of playing his music, but I hear some differences from when he played. It's a shame we never got to hear other 'sounds' he might have created.
