For the Glock 30S, you can replace the factory installed guide rod with a Tungsten 23 lbs pull guide rod instead. This will aid you in managing the recoil and helps it in cycling the next round.

The G30 has always had a dual-recoil spring assembly. It runs fine with the older Gen3 style or the newer (with cutaway in the metal housing) Gen4 style.
@Mrgunsngear
11 жыл бұрын
The trigger is stiffer because of the angle of the trigger housing. On the "SF" frames (and Gen4 frames) the angle is steeper but on the Gen3 SFs they kept the same connector on it which adds about .5 lbs to the pull. This is why the Gen4s have the "." connectors. The "." connector compensates for the steeper angle of the trigger housing in the SF/Gen4 frames. Why they don't use it in the SF frames---who the hell knows.

I've carred a 30S for 3 years IWB CrossBreed holster. No FFE or reliability issues. None. Compact length, Slim Slide and 10 round capacity - that's why LAPD special units and many other LE's order them so often that Glock made it a catalog item. I rented a Glock 36 from RangeUSA for one hour and had several FFE issues during a 100 round session.

Totally agree, especially about (Diet) Coke... and dogs. And the Glock. I was a confirmed Glock hater for a very long time. But I rented G30 when they didn't have the G36 I wanted to try. I fell in love. Got mine a few weeks ago. I even think it looks good! Mine is a G30 gen 4. I wanted an S, but I'm not sure they still make it. Anyway, I've got it and I love it. I hope it doesn't get in a fight with my 1911's when it goes in the safe! 😁

The 30S frame is just as thick since it's the exact same frame as the 30SF. What's thinner (and lighter) is the slide. That means it will fit in some more holsters but the trade-off is a lot more recoil.

Everybody always says the 30S is so snappy. From experience of shooting it back to back, the 30S has literally no recoil compared to a 27. At least for me it does. The 27 is slightly too short and the 30S grip (fits like a glove) is just so much easier to hold onto.

***** I've own all the main popular glock, 19/c/23/c,26 I got and will keep, just got 30s,36,27,42, and the long competition one as well. My favorite glock right now is 30S, also it depends what AMMO you are firing as well, also I got G26/30S right now only. I will get a 3rd gen 23 or a USP if I get another firearm. I don't want a 19 why? Because I basically have a 19 with my 26 with all fixed up with 15 round magazine with the x Grip...
@zach9112

really nice to hear. i've kinda started to feel like the .40 isn't worth it for how much it kicks. the .45 is a smoother kick IMO. and it supposedly is significantly better for carrying as it does a better job with one shot stops. plus, the G27 with the glock grip extension holds 10+1, which is the same as the 30S which is a .45 vs the 27's .40 and the 27 with the grip extension is even larger i think

They also have a bump on the firing pin block safety depressing bar on the trigger bar, that keeps it centered on the firing pin block, but also rides against the edge of the slide creating friction. Imagine that this Plastic Glock is beautiful, because the black is different than the normal black. The slide is thinner, but feels like butter no wait it is shaped like a stick of butter. Then again it is snappier, but on a good day you can control it. The trigger is heavier than normal, but the reset sounds great. I'm sure they will eventually make it in a gen4 version... and at that point, I might pick one up. Until then, my gen4 G21 is superb and if I need something smaller, the gen4 26 and 19 fill the ccw roles just fine for me. I really want to like the 30S... they just need a gen4 model.

The standard G30 shoots nicer, the larger mass and heavier weight of the slide makes the recoil noticeably softer. If you have ever shot a G36 you know what I am talking about. The G30S carries easier, less weight due to the lighter slide, fits more holsters due to the narrower slide. Trade-off between shooting comfort and carrying comfort.

i was speaking with a Glock rep @ shot show 2013, she explained in detail that the history of the Glock 30"'s" is simple. it was requested by L.A.P.D.- S.I.S. detectives who wanted a high power back up with good fire power. the S.I.S. guy's like carrying the Glock21(sf) 13 +1 or the Kimber S.I.S. model.. but most don't like the Kimber because they have many problems. so the Glock is the choice that most Detectives go with. and since it's a .45 ACP why not have a back up with the same caliber? so Glock obliged and made them a 30"s" which is by far much better than the glcok 30.. the beauty of it is that block also released it for civilian purchase. and since it's basically a "GEN 3" design it's legal to buy in Ca, :) so i am happy...

Don't know if anyone mentioned it here but the Gen 4's have a little nipple on the side of the trigger bar that actuated the safety plunger. The reason they added it is to keep it aligned. Was there ever an issue with this? I don't know but that little bump rides in the channel on the slide and keeps it straight but also adds trigger weight, It is fixable by grinding it off (void warranty) or use a gen 3 trigger bar.

The G36 does feel good in hand, but it's very snappy to shoot. Since the same slide is used on the new G30S alot of that snappiness carries over. Agree with you that the std (or SF) G30 is an outstanding handgun that shoots great. And since you love the way your G30 runs be careful about fixing something that ain't broke. Remember the new G30S, while a thinner slide, has the exact same frame thickness as a G30, and will still be very tough to IWB carry. All G30's work better in OWB holsters.
