My daily conceal and carry is a G45 MOS. I love firearms in general, but really trust Glocks a lot due to my experiences with them in training both on and off duty. The department that I work for uses G22’s. I just bought a G43X, a few days before Christmas, but it didn’t arrive at my FFL until yesterday, in the 2nd. I immediately fell in love with it. I cannot believe how balanced and comfortable the gun is. I bought it with my wife and daughter in mind and they too, also really liked how the 43X felt in their hands. They had said that my other Glocks, including my G19, and G45, felt to big in their hands and they said that they liked how the 43X, was also noticeably lighter. When Shield Arms releases their 15 round, flush fit S-15 steel magazines, I will plan on buying a few of those as well. Hopefully, the weight of the extra 5 rounds in negligible to my wife and daughter. If they don’t like it, then I’ll switch back and go with the stock, polymer 10 round Glock mags. Since the daughter likes the 43X, now I’m going to have to buy her one as well.

Great update. I love mine. I've had a 43 for a while, and decided to get a 48 to go with it, thinking that I "could" run the 48 frame with the 43 slide to make a 43X, but that I probably wouldn't like that configuration as much. I was wrong. My Frankenstein 43X quickly became my preferred carry and it's also a blast to shoot at the range. I hardly ever take my gen 5 19 out now (although I still love it).

I have 12K rounds through mine now. I have 8 factory mags and 5 Shield S15 mags and 4 of those have the 5 round extensions. This gun has made its way to my #1 carry gun. I’m on my 3rd recoil spring. The factory recoil spring never gave me any problems but I changed it at around 5K rounds for a SS rod recoil spring off eBay. Eh, it would hang for a split second sometimes while cycling to lockup and it never got better. Put in a flat spring recoil spring and it’s doing great. Got that off eBay too but I keep another factory recoil spring as a backup. The trigger guard is undercut enough that I don’t get the Glock knuckle. I have a good wear ring around the end of the barrel and some wear under the slide where the barrel locks up. Some holster wear marks. I have recently been getting a sore trigger finger but that’s usually after a long day of shooting, so I did order a Zev trigger which should be here Monday. I put in Trijicon night sights the week I got it and the gun still shots about an inch high at 10 yards if I’m just running it. If I take careful aim and line up the sights, it shoots fine so the high aim is me focusing more on the front sight while rapid firing. I’ve experienced this on many Glocks though, so that’s me. I sold my Sig P365XL. I had about 3-4K rounds through it and had no problems but I always went with the Glock. It just shot better and felt better in my hands. My son’s friend wanted the Sig and couldn’t find one during this Covid mess so I sold it to him. But this G43X is my all-time favorite Glock by no close margin. A small gun that has a long enough grip and no Glock knuckle...and now 15 round flush mags...AND 5 round extensions for those mags!!! No-brainer! IMO it’s the best gun Glock has ever made for concealed carry.

My guns get cleaned after range visits. I rub a little synthetic high temperature grease on parts that get metal on metal contact. Even my older guns don't show excessive wear. That pitting on yours might be from just being dirty. You get gunk build up from carbon and lead. It will build up and start scratching surfaces. I know what you did is a test on durability under extreme conditions. I'm not a glock guy but a lot of my friends are. They have a great reputation. If you take care of it, your great grandkids will still be shooting and loving it. Great review!

Thanks for watching, and for the kind words! And as you said, this was an intentionally extreme test to try out the new Glock coating; I would never advocate that anyone treat any of their guns the way that I treat mine. I wish it were possible for Glock to return to the tenifer finishes of old. I know that's virtually impossible, or at least very impractical, but they were so durable. I had a gen. 3 made in the late 90s that I rarely cleaned and lubed, mostly out of laziness, at the time. It had virtually no wear anywhere other than the barrel. Very impressive! Is it time for me to become one of those guys complaining that they don't make things the way they used to?

I find this quite interesting. I've owned numerous Glocks over the years. I was also on my local Sheriff's Dept. for a few years so I've shot several Glocks that I didn't own. My Glock 43x is the worst trigger I've ever felt on a Glock. My Glock 19 gen4 is the best trigger I've ever felt on a Glock. I never understood why people would change their stock trigger. Long story short, my Glock 43x now has an Apex trigger. 100% happy with it now. Great video and review.
@thegunpenguin
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! As for the trigger, I think it depends on whether or not you prefer a rolling break or a firm wall. Every gen. 4, and really, the gen. 5s as well, has a decently smooth rearward roll straight back. My 43X feels nothing like my other Glocks. That wall is so firm, and the break so crisp, it feels less like a striker-fired gun. And it's about a pound and some change heavier, as well.
@scottbryan803
4 жыл бұрын
@@thegunpenguin I think a lot of it had to do with the trigger safety not going as deep as my other Glocks. Mine was also a really hard trigger pull. Probably would've eased up with time. I'm just impatient.
@thegunpenguin
4 жыл бұрын
@@scottbryan803 It lightens a little, but probably not enough to change your opinion of the trigger. If you're used to a really good 19 trigger, and that's one of your favorites, the 43X is never going to get anywhere close. 7 lbs with a firm wall can feel remarkably heavy when your finger is perched on that edge. And like you pointed out, they need to offer a smooth trigger option for this gun, even if it's an OEM drop-in part, since I don't think they can import them that way. I shoot a lot of hammer-fired gun, and the 43X feels much more like those, with a little pull weight added. But the rolling break of the bigger Glocks is still excellent, and I don't understand why Glock triggers get so much hate. I've never had an issue shooting them, though I don't think anyone will say I shoot any gun particularly well.

Thanks for the tip! I use the ALG Very Thin Grease, and it works really well, but I'm always down to try something new. Who makes the white grease? Unfortunately, I've heard from quite a few viewers whose gen. 5 Glocks have the same finish issue. I call it an issue, but it's purely cosmetic. For me it's only a problem if the gun corrodes in some way, and I don't think that's likely. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts!

I bought a g43x yesterday, brand new from Academy sports. Bought an extra Glock mag with it, took it to the range after cleaning it and putting some oil on it. I was using Winchester White box FMJ, made it through 3 mags, had 4 failure to feeds, and then the trigger refused to reset at all. I shot less than 40 rounds and the trigger failed on me. Took it home, stripped it down, put it all back together, still nothing. Took to Academy and they are shipping it back to Glock for warranty, said they have never seen any Glock do that before. First new Glock purchase and am not impressed. Just my two cents.

Glocks aren't my all time favorite handgun, but I've had excellent luck with them. However, like everyone else, they make lemons. Doing my long-term, high-round-count tests, I've discovered that you can break anything, and anything can be out of spec. So far, I'd had the best luck with Beretta, HK, and Walther, but then my buddy bought a Beretta that had several problems right out of the box. You're right to be frustrated, but hopefully they will make it right, and you won't have another problem. If something else fails, let us know.

Hello, Rewstin. I hope you will not give up on a Glock 43x just yet. Your problem is not you or the 43x, but Winchester ammunition. I bought my Glock 43x in December and one of the first things I was told by the gun shop was to NEVER run Winchester ammunition through it. They told me not to use Winchester white box or black box ammo - that it would "blow it up." It happened to 2 customers who bought the 43x. I don't use ANY kind of Winchester ammunition - it's not worth the risk. I use Blazer CCI and Hornady. I was told I could use anything, but to definitely stay away from Winchester. This is my first handgun and I purchased it for home protection and CC, and I couldn't be happier!!! I am a female with a small hand, so this Glock is perfect for me. I love that it is light-weight and small enough to conceal carry. The grip fits me perfectly. It is fun to shoot and I feel very confident when I practice with it. I would hate for you to give up on the Glock 43x because you inadvertently ran Winchester through it without knowing that particular ammo would damage your handgun. It's not you or the gun, it was Winchester ammo that is to blame. I hope you'll try again with different ammunition. I would like to hear what your opinion is after you've put different ammunition through it. Take care.

I agree with you FM57. I wanted to buy the 365 but because of the past and current issues it’s still having I could not do it. I’m only 5ft 7 and can conceal the 19 well even in board shorts. But fully loaded it can still be a pain in the ass sometimes because of the extra weight. I never thought I would sell the 19 until I put the 43X in my hand today. I traded my 19 with TFO sights towards the 43X at a friends shop. I must say it’s almost like I am not even carrying a gun now. This 43X just disappears in the waist band!🔥 Part of me feels like I let my trusty 19 down by getting rid of it..😂

Putting 6-8 inch groups at 25 yards with this guy all stock. 10-12 at 50 yards. Got some WC sights coming and can probably shave a couple inches off them groups with them. You're right -- nothing else in this size class shoots like the 43X and the 48. I find myself looking forward to my range sessions with this gun, unlike most other small ones. As you say, it's not really much different than shooting something like a 19. A little more snap perhaps, but still very manageable. Though I certainly can't shoot any gun nearly as well as you can, I've been impressed with what this grip size and trigger pull offer.
@kentucky89nation17

thegunpenguin i shoot this one even better than my gen 4 19. The slim frame really lets me hunker down and control the sight picture. I have medium hands and the full size glocks are rufffff to feel a complete grip on for me. I’ve actually turned to the beretta apx this past year for my full size, its frame, angle, and grip is practically a full size slim line frame. I shoot the apx extremely well. And the 43X was shot off a tailgate and bean bag rest at 25 and 50. I had to see what this marksman Barrel was all about and I was impressed. It’s combat accurate out to 50 yards. 7-15 was all shot standing. This pistol is very very effective in self defense scenarios. Once I get my hands on them 15 rd mags, this gun possibly could be in its own class. The concealed carry firearm that has the capacity firepower and performance accuracy to fight with in any scenario. Impressive.

@@kentucky89nation17 The APX is underrated, for sure, and it's a real bargain at the current price. Great choice! The Shield Arms mag sort of the turns the 43X into a micro service pistol, you're quite right. They finally shipped me some mags, but I haven't had a chance to throw them in the mud yet -- I truly hope they work as advertised. I have some minor initial reservations about the construction of the mag; I would've preferred that Checkmate not manufacture them. I've never been in a self-defense scenario to say, but I'd imagine the 43X is an excellent blend of concealability and shooter comfort. It certainly carries well, and would save weight on a plate carrier. It's still a young gun, but I'd wager that we'll see it stick around for at least a decade in one form or another.
@kentucky89nation17
4 жыл бұрын
thegunpenguin agreed with everything you said. APX is definitely underrated. I spent an extra 50$ to buy berettas comp striker spring and their 24pd recoil spring and my APX is sporting a 4.2 avg pound trigger pull now and the recoil is very similar to a 380acp. It’s such a fast full size handgun. And to be completely honest if those 15 rd mags hold up, I’d not feel underarmed a single bit in a gun fight with the 43X. I think I shoot both these pistols better than I do my Romy G and other Romanian AKMs wasr 10/63 and SAR1 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤔

Does it print much when you're carrying it? Also have you had issues with the trigger shoe pinching your finger?
@thegunpenguin

The first question is tough to answer -- I really think that'll depend entirely on you: how tall you are, how much you weigh, how you dress, the holster you choose, etc. Sorry, that's the lousiest answer ever, but it's the only accurate one. I can firmly say that this gun feels a bit smaller than it is because it's so slim, and they did a good job of rounding all of the edges. The trigger shoe doesn't pinch me, but I wish they made an OEM smooth-faced trigger, as the texturing is uncomfortable. I understand that they couldn't import them with such triggers, but surely they could've offered smooth ones as a cheap part. It's a very minor annoyance, and I can shoot the gun all day without any pain. The gun is so good, tiny things like that become more obvious. Anyhow, I hope this was helpful, and I hope you're doing well!

I know you said you're trying to pick one up in the summertime. @@joshuabracke5775 That's totally fair. It's got to be nice having the option to control the final size of the PPS, even if you sacrifice a little bit of capacity. The 43X probably wouldn't be harder to conceal than the PPS with the extension, but it can't compare to the Walther with the short mag. I personally shoot the Glock much better than the Walther, thanks to the larger grip, but that might not outweigh the difficulties that come with the slightly larger size. Do you have the PPS M1 or 2? I'm most interested in the first model, as I'm a big fan of the paddles, but it's getting harder to find used ones. Maybe that's just due to the ongoing apocalypse? You can still find the PPS Classic on Armslist and have them shipped to your FFL! :) Oh but I will say, if we could mix and match features, that would be pretty incredible. Honestly, there's just not enough of a difference between the G45 and the 19X to justify doing a video, but I'm happy to tell you about the differences here. Also, I'm honored that you would want me to make such a video! Hopefully this'll help. Ultimately, the only reasons you might ever buy the 19X over the 45 would be to get the brown finish, or because you want Glock's MHS submission. Otherwise, the 45 has the better set of features, although the difference between the guns is pretty damn minute. One is black, the other is several different shades of brown. The 19X has that weird lip that prevents it from using gen. 5 magazines, and it also has a lanyard loop. Internally, the 19X is a gen. 5, just like the 45. The 19X lacks front slide serrations and always comes with night sights. The 45 doesn't have the mag well lip. Those are the noteworthy differences, and ultimately, none of them matter that much, with the exception of the mag well lip. If I forgot something, let me know. Thanks!

Not as expensive, alloy frame? Compact? Here are the 2 I'd consider) • CZ-USA 01750 CZ 2075 RAMI 10+1 9mm 3" • CZ-USA 01199 CZ P-01 10+1 9mm 3.8" KHAR ARMS (Wild card, I've heard good things? Prices are okay. Metal frame, still smaller guns) • Kahr Arms M9098A MK9 Elite 6+1/7+1 9mm 3" • Kahr Arms K9093 K9 7+1 9mm 3.5" I know I am asking a lot but if you have the time i would rather hear from you than anyone else on what you think I should do.

I'm really leaning towards the CZ 2075 RAMI but 3" barrel seems short. Do you think that's a dealkiller?

@@VoluntarySynesthesia I'm incredibly sorry for how late my response is. KZitem doesn't always send out a notification for each new comment, and I miss stuff. I should do a better job of backtracking to check each video. Again, sorry. Your list is tough, and for a positive reason. All of those are fantastic guns, and you'll win no matter what you choose. For my own personal tastes, I'd choose the gen. 3 Glock 19 or 26 to save some weight. Those others can be a bit heavy to have stuffed in your pants all day, but plenty of folks happily carry them. For me, the RAMI's barrel wouldn't be a dealbreaker, but they are kind of heavy. You can still readily get gen. 3 Glock parts, and I suspect you'll be happiest in the long run going that route purely from a comfort perspective. What do you think?
