@@ORRHART I don't think it's lack of supply. It's more lack of effort, imo, but I'm neither an oil market specialist, oil extraction scientist, or Mexican society expert, so there's that..... I just know that they were an oil producer in the past. And I'm pretty sure that they have off-shore access just like we do in the Gulf and off Baja. Then there's fracking and shale, but I don't know how much shale are in their part of the Sierra Madres.

Fresh handmade tortillas, yes. None of that store bought crap. When you go to a Mexican restaurant and you can see them making tortillas, you know you're in a fine establishment. *Pappasito's Cantina* hand makes their's and you see it on an oven conveyor belt. Like ordering a bunch of rolls to go, I get extra tortillas.

@@TheDuncanStudios2000 Battles aren’t wars, which is what you are referring to in your original comment. The battle of Cornwall ended up in a royalist victory. Britain and Prussia won the 7 years war, which resulted in the treaty of Paris and Habertusberg and Paris being signed in 1763, which saw Britain gain most of new French colonies in the Americas. War of independence is a bit more tricky, if that is what you are referring to with the “losing an entire fleet to farmers” comment. Those farmers were being supplied by the French (almost as bankrupted them), and quite frankly the American Colonies were far less important than territories in Asia and Africa simply because they had far more natural resources (if only they looked westward in the Americas) so Britain placed far less priority on reintegrating the US and focused on colonising elsewhere. In top of that, France was still being a pain in the ass so that also required attention in Europe.

In school we learned that the US and other countries used to have right to the oil, and there was a big fight in the early 1938 and Mexico decided to nationalize it, this PEMEX for petroleos Mexicanos. There was no competition to PEMEX for decades until recently so people were at the mercy of whatever the government wanted to do. That’s how I understand it.

They can also realize they're no longer in WW2 and make better food. Things boiled loses ALL flavor. at least salt and pepper the food thoroughly and fry them, or grill them. Roasting is alright sometimes as long as you don't dry the meat out. Though that takes too long. Something other than boiling.

it's one of the few benefits of being a dual citizen, you don't know how many times I've called out my local politicians for their shit only for them to not be able to do anything because I carry around an American passport and the number for the local Consular Agent, it's saved me from some of the shit that normally gets pulled on other lawyers and activists who weren't so lucky.

Last time Mexico City tried to elect a mayor that wanted to help depower the cartels, they sent troubleshooters the hour after her coronation and made her a better window than a door inside her brand new office in the capitol building. Like, they want them gone, but at this point the cartels have more power than the actual Mexican military and government and *really* don't like getting spanked and are willing to make it all of Mexico's problem if they start catching heat.

Yeah... But Japan does it a LOT better in that regard. Like, there is knowing your ingredients, and then there is knowing how to cook. The difference between mixing noodles and tomato sauce and actually making "SPAGHETTI". Or, in more relatable terms, the difference between retirement home food and a restaurant's food. Except British restaurants can largely serve retirement home food.

Don't think it'll be thar simple. The cartel has been trained by U.S. soldiers, and if I'm not mistaken, a good chunk is in American military ranks. Because how else will they be able to successfully smuggle over 40 mega-tons of drugs each year.

@@etiobatista5938 I don't know how true that is, I'm guessing not, but I do know the reason they're able to smuggle so much is 'cuz they completely own half the governments that should/would be looking into the operations, and that the other one isn't all that concerned yet, senators likely getting some kickback money to turn a cheek every time the issue gets brought up in the house, they just better hope their checks don't bounce cuz the moment it becomes inconvenient for the U.S. to ignore the situation their opulent little palaces and villa's are gonna become excellent drone targets.

Fun fact: Mexico has oil. Mexico has a LOT of oil. The US imports all of its oil from Mexico and South America. Most oil is sent to the countries nearest to where it was pumped. I love explaining this to assholes who still think we went to Iraq for oil when we never got a drop of that oil. That all went to the surrounding area especially China.

@@Invaderzim2004 Yup, all sorts of contractors got rich. But overall they represent a fraction of the money that is spent towards other businesses. A single F-35 costs more than was spent on all of the contractors combined over a decade. So making them rich wasn't the goal either.

Gun violence isn't nearly as prevalent in the United States as they make it look. If the rest of the world stopped separating gang violence, suicide, cops using deadly force and the fact the ATF shoots at basically anything that breaths the numbers would be significantly different. Do you have any idea how many accidental death in the UK are actually murders and suicides reported as accidents to cover up the number of actual gun deaths.

In the interest of fairness, we do kinda have a problem with everyone using guns for problem solving. If we just took a couple deep breaths every once in a while, that certainly wouldn’t hurt. Doing so reduces collateral damage from stray bullets, too
