I'm really glad to hear that you're excited about the light series! It's going to be a lot of fun, and I hope it brings you and others valuable insights and knowledge. Your support means a lot to me, so thank you for that! You mentioned an interest in learning about different types of lighting used in paintings, such as rear or front lighting, and I think that's a fantastic idea! Lighting plays a crucial role in creating the mood, atmosphere, and overall impact of a painting. Choosing the right type of lighting can indeed bring more drama or enhance specific elements of your artwork. Front lighting, for example, is when the light source is positioned in front of the subject, illuminating it evenly. This type of lighting is often used in classical portraiture or still life paintings, as it provides a balanced and natural look. It minimizes shadows and allows for a clear view of the subject's details. On the other hand, rear lighting involves placing the light source behind the subject, creating a backlight effect. This technique can add a sense of depth, drama, and mystery to your painting. It creates strong contrasts between light and dark areas, emphasizing silhouettes and creating a striking visual impact. There are many other lighting techniques to explore, such as side lighting, top lighting, or even using multiple light sources. Each technique can evoke different emotions, highlight specific features, or enhance the overall composition. It's all about experimenting and finding the right balance for your artistic vision. When choosing the type of lighting for your painting, consider the mood and story you want to convey. Think about the subject matter, the desired focal point, and the overall atmosphere you want to create. Lighting can be a powerful tool to guide the viewer's attention, evoke emotions, and add depth to your artwork. In future videos, I'll be sure to dive deeper into these different lighting techniques, discussing their effects and providing examples. I want to empower you and others to explore the world of lighting in paintings and unleash your creativity. Once again, thank you for your suggestion and support. I can't wait to share more insights and knowledge with you in the upcoming light series. Keep an eye out for the new videos, and let's continue this artistic journey together. Cheers!

Question--Someone kindly gave me some canvases from a charity shopto paint on that already had images printed on, how can I paint on them? Do I need gesso?
@TheArtSherpa
Жыл бұрын
You can lightly sand them, then either use gesso or a couple of layers of white paint (as long as they were acrylic paintings, you can't paint acrylic over oils) 🌺

This didn’t help me paint clouds at all. It was cool to watch you paint them. But other than telling me the paint brush you just said put the paint wherever. This my could was just a hodgepodge of colors. You really should be more specific in to why you are placing color.

CINNAMON- I have a serious cloud painting block. I tried painting the 1st AA cloud series and messed it up so badly I never attempted again. I was so discouraged. So, if say if I've never painted a cloud in my life, which video would be the best one to start with?
