Thousands of people thought they were depressed, went on mind-altering meds; but what they really had was a gluten allergy. This is only between last 1-2 decades. Food is making people sick, and they are on antidepressants instead of altering their diet. I think this is a leading factor to why so many feel so good on a Keto diet.

Remove the gluten, don't take pills for something that has nothing to do with it! In 2018, the vast majority of doctors don't believe people are reacting to the food they eat. In America, you take pills so you can keep on eating the shit they sell you.

Well said, I had no idea it was gluten making me depressed this whole time. I had a gluten free burger for the first time last week and for the first time in my life, I didn’t have that bloated/ depressive feeling afterwards. I ate it and felt... great! For the past week by being gluten free, my legs aren’t achey and tingling, I don’t feel depressed, I don’t feel lethargic, I don’t have brain fog, and I’m not constantly constipated anymore either. I can’t believe I wasn’t self-aware enough to realise it was the gluten doing this to me. I just thought there was something wrong with my mental health. I can’t stress how much I highly recommend anybody to try a gluten-free diet, or just notice their change in mental/ physical well-being immediately after consuming gluten-rich food to see if it is actually the gluten doing this to them instead of something else. I was actually one of those people who ridiculed others for it being a fad as well. Oh how wrong I was!

I have never found anyone else with my reaction to wheat bread. I get insomnia anytime I eat whole wheat bread. I went 4 years with very little sleep. Out of a process of elimination, I determined this was the problem. I eliminated wheat bread and within 2 days I was sleeping all night. I have tested this theory several times over the last 6 years. If I eat a sandwich or have toast with whole wheat bread, I won't sleep that night.

I have Hashimoto’s and my thyroid wasn’t “responding to meds” at all and I had nodes and my weight kept piling on no matter what I ate or how much I exercised and when my levels started getting normal I was told I shouldn’t be symptomatic anymore but I was, I could barely function. Going gluten free was the only thing that helped but it was like an accumulative affect. So after about 3 months of gluten free my weight started dropping rapidly (like 30kg in 5 months) and pretty much 80% of my symptoms went away. My endo said that gluten triggers an autoimmune response in lots of people with autoimmune disease not just celiac which is super interesting and drastically changed the quality of my life.

Is it possible that gluten can effect a person mentally more so than physically? I recently decided to give a gluten free diet a shot, and it seems like any sort of depression I’ve had over the past half decade has disappeared. I don’t wanna settle for it being placebo, because truly I feel amazing. I feel like I felt pre-college. One of the things that I was told was to remove gluten out of my diet as much as possible, if not completely. OMG!! This is very difficult to do! I LOVE GLUTEN!! For the last year I've been trying to eat gluten free. I've done pretty good, but not 100%. Gluten is in so many things, you have to look for things to say "Gluten Free". Even many products that are rice or quinoa still have some flour in them. I will say, it isn't making my arthritis go away, but it does help with the pain management. I'm able to use topical gels and no oral medications (which are not an option for me due to stomach issues) to control pain. Do I miss gluten? YES!! However do I feel better? Yes I do.

But I went 100% gf anyways. Since then, I have never in my life felt any better. I also have endometriosis, gluten flares it up, so I have 2 reasons to quit gluten. Gluten gives me pink/red fingers/hands and feet/toes, makes me feel like I am bruised and tender all over, mainly upper body but can spread down to my legs if there was a lot of gluten, is this inflammation? I have trouble finding these symptoms online, this is combined with the runs and severe cystic acne but I don't know what exactly is happening that I am getting the first symptoms I typed.

I suppose the actual diagnosis doesn't matter if the treatment is the same (avoid wheat/gluten). However if you want to consume other grains than wheat that have gluten then it may be more important to get an actual diagnosis.

Get tested. Do a doctor guided Elimination Diet to be sure it's only gluten and not other grains or allergens etc.

I've had red bumps on my arms all my life and I went on Keto and it started to clear up... I ate a piece of bread and the bumps didn't come back but it was only a little bread. Then a few weeks later I had a cheat day and had a lot of bread and the bumps came right back. I regret eating the bread for sure because it took forever for the bumps to go away the first time. At least now I learned to avoid wheat.

Thanks St.Thomas for spelling it out. Also I'm under the impression that a standard GP blood test won't show a positive result if consistently on a gluten free diet.

I know Thomas and his team don't read these, but can u do a video on calories. Too many u get fat, so few and ur metabolism slows, muscle mass drops, ultimately gain weight... what's the sweet spot or range for calories? Please and thanks.

Thomas... What's the word on quark? The yogurty cheese... I know it tastes great, but is it great for keto? I'm pretty sure most of the carbs (the whey portion... I think?) are strained out.... thoughts?

I have this with all grains especially, corn, wheat, quinoa and rice. My symptoms are not so much in my gut (except for rice) but more as severe joint pain. Whenever I eat something that contains any grain that I am aware of it or not. I will know the next day because I can barely walk. I have similar reactions to pulse and legumes as well. Would that be the same for pulse and legumes? The keto diet has really helped me in that sense. I also found that if I go over 5% total carbs, my osteoarthritis comes back within a few days. Is it normal? Do you have any tricks for that? Thank you for all this valuable information that you give us!

Saw your video on keto diet and muscle building, but do you have another video about an eating and workout schedule on keto diet. For example, how long after eating should I wait until my body’s ready to have the energy for hard resistance training?

I actually have fructan sensitivity, and the fructan in wheat is the problem. When I have gluten on its own I have no reactions. So I avoid wheat whenever possible.
