This video is about transfer of cytosolic NADH+H into the mitochondria using glycerol phosphate shuttle mechanism. In this shuttle mechanism glycerol phosphate is used to transfer H+H from cytoplasmic NADH+H into the mitochondria. Out of two shuttle mechanisms, glycerol phosphate shuttle and malate aspartate shuttle mechanism, different cells prefers each of these shuttle mechanisms depending on their energy needs. Like liver and heart prefers malate aspartate shuttle mechanism whereas adipose tissue uses glycerol phosphate shuttle mechanism.
