You sure do nice work, nice to see the progress that was made on the truck!

Thank you very much for this video, helped me out. basically as I understand it, The ignition switch provides voltage to the temp console, once you move that lever to heat for example it provides voltage to the 4 position speed selector switch, on that brown and white wire 12 volts are present and depending on which speed you select, it sends voltage to the unit in the engine bay, thereafter on mine at least there is a relay that has to be on in order to provide voltage to the resistor network. and thereafter there are only 2 wires that go to the blower, depending on the resistor selected you get voltage or partial voltage that enables speed variation. I had a loose or disconnected wire (purple) to the blower that came loose and all this time I have been freezing my buttocks off, thanks again for sharing

thanks a lot for putting this out there I've been fighting with my blower motor for a few weeks now (just bought the truck) in my 86 Silverado. Im going to the garage right now to try it out.

It's a simple system once you wrap your head around how it operates. Let me know if you need some help with the troubleshooting. I suggest starting at the most far point(the blower motor) and working your way back till you find where you are losing power or the right level of voltage. Neat name btw.

i found out that it was the speed selector switch thanks again and please continue to film anything you do on that c10 chances are im fighting with it too.

That's what I suspected first off, because that's what was wrong with mine. I replaced mine with a junkyard part and it was back in shape. One thing I did notice is the "new" one (86 model) from the junkyard was black plastic and the older one is chromed pot metal. If I was going for a perfect restoration this would bother me. But it's a work truck.

What’s the purpose of that connector that you had that red wire connected to. I’m having trouble with my blower motor cutting on. The relay is good, wires, fuse, blower motor, and resistor. When I switch it to heat or other settings it doesn’t do nothing. It’s a 1984 Chevy k10

I installed a new low to high switch and still "NO" high speed blower movement, so wher do I go next ? Bk under the hood near blower fan?

Are all 4 wires the same guage wires? 3 of mine are the same guage and one is much lighter? Just doesn’t seem right?

Is the blower switch the same as a blower resistor?
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage
6 жыл бұрын
No, blower switch CHOOSES the fan speed, blower resistor drops the voltage to GIVE the correct fan speed. Blower speed switch is inside on dashboard, resistor is out under the hood.

So if you're getting nothing it's probably the switch? Fuse is good.

Tyler you still around? Could you run it with the jumper wire while you drove?????
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage

I wouldn't unless you had it fused close to the power source.

@@TylersNeighborhoodGarage Thanks for the reply. The Chevy van , 1979, did not have the same plug in as yours. i have airconditioning and the fan works there but not on the heater ????
