I’ve programmed a duplexer with the nanoVNA. It works well.

Regarding the "parrot" or "store and forward", is that able to be disabled? I'm curious if that is the standard operation or is it able to be used as a "standard" simultaneous RX/TX repeater?
@xssfox
2 жыл бұрын
The parrot is just a Brandmiester test group to test the repeater without anyone being present. Its not normal operation and usually everything acts as a normal DMR repeater

@@xssfox thank you so very very much for the explanation. I have presented that inquiry across several platforms with no answer. I have quite a bit of analog rf equipment and hated to think it would just sit, so this makes me so happy ro see. Has there ever been or is there one of these that has a link option? I would like to change over my old linked repeater system with digital.

@@jameslargen284 With system runs off BrandMeister which is a linked network of DMR repeaters and hotspots, but MMDVM can be configured for linking various different modes such as YSF, P25, M17, FM, Dstar and other networks like DMARC. You can have a peak in the MMDVM.ini to see the available configuration options : github.com/g4klx/MMDVMHost/blob/master/MMDVM.ini

you need to insert a dummy load on the empty port of the duplexer when tuning it

Yeah, do not use modern machines and usb crap I been running a 486 laptop for all my radio programming, heavily gm300 and maxtrac stuff since the late 90's You don't need to worry to much about a full moto RIb but you will need to buy a direct - ribless programming cable it just makes it so much easier, and you won't corrupt your radios. PS: Love the callsign!

Help!!! I noticed every GM300 radio in the repeater configuration has a RJ45 plug in the front mic port. Anyone know what pins need to be jumped while setup as a repeater? I basically don't have them for my GR300 setup.

Not sure, I'll have to weight it! It's not light that's for sure. It does fit into air liners luggage sizes, so I can take to places easily

if the radios conform 5.45" standard hard drive bays you might wan5 want to consider 5.45" roller style fans set as the cooling option in a 8 bay 5.45" with a space between the devices personally with rack mountable solutions of today might be better to mount the gear into that because the radio died due to lack of heat disbursement

I’ve just found your video, some two years after you posted it. Sorry to be late to the party. Hopefully you still see comments. Did I understand correctly that you showed that the repeater as you have it configured; can handle *both* traditional analog radio traffic, as well as DMR traffic, depending on what type of radio the user has? I’ve got a similar repeater kit in my garage that I rescued from being trashed; and would like to set it up in the U.S. ham bands. It would be great if I could have it useable by both analog and digital DMR users. Thanks for posting and sharing your video. It gave me a lot of insight into what the box in my garage has in it. 😁

For DMR if the repeater radios support it you can use a MMDVM board that can provide FM and DMR. MMDVM can switch between these modes automatically - however FM radios and DMR radios wouldn't be able to hear each other.

@@xssfox Ahh. Ok. They can’t talk “cross technologies”….. But it would allow for both digital and analog users to use the repeater; which seems like a good use of hardware and spectrum to me. So the board you were using in your video, from Repeater Builders; supports that? Would you still use the same board today if you were building the same setup, or would you try something different?

I've never worked with IPSC so I'm not sure. You'd have to look up MMDVM IPSC to see if there is bridge software
