This is a milestone I'd been hoping to get for many months now - it's a rather unique one that took an enormous amount of attempts and requires a lot of focus for a full hour.
Phase 1 of Black Mage has a notorious reputation for being a damage check, where parties tend to wipe completely very quickly if they take too long to clear the phase. I did this largely out of curiosity whether it would be possible to survive indefinitely in here (at least for some classes), contrary to what some might believe.
Since beginning practice on Black Mage I found that blaster has a very good kit that's well equipped to deal with practically every pattern in phase 1, even when the walls are fully closed in. I do believe this should be possible on quite a few other classes as well, with different tools for different patterns (e.g. Dark Sight or Teleport allows passing through lasers for some classes, which isn't possible for others).
This phase stands out as one of my favourites in the game, mostly because it emphasizes good control and awareness of what both knights are doing, and a single mistake or lapse in focus can instantly cost multiple lives.
The main gripe I have with this phase is that there are still some unfixed bugs after all these years - most notably one where a knight will dash one direction but have the hitbox go in the opposite direction (and sometimes dash through walls as a result). This particular bug cost many, many attempts on this milestone.
Some day I'd love to try going for a deathless timeout in phase 1, but as long as this dash bug exists I don't I'll be able to go for it with my sanity intact.
