Been using GNOM 42 for a few weeks on Fedora 36 pre-release and it's pretty nice, looking forward to final Fedora 36 👍

Man, that choosing between light and dark made me feel like it's a moral issue 😂, thank you master Ermanno 🙏

What exactly is the point of the Console app? To have a terminal emulator with no options, basically? I don't really get the need for it, especially if the distro is coming with another one, like Bash.

Video shows bright blue folder icons. My Gnome 42 RC (using Fedora 36) has brown folders.

GNOME 42 is great. But I will stick with BSPWM for now.

Learned a lot with your videos, thanks a lot :) Would love to see a linux install with refind and btrfs (honestly found it to be a little complicated)

Using fedora 36 beta as my daily driver. Faced no issues except some extensions compatibility. Gnome 42's default libadwaita looks gorgeous. But now third party themes will not work like it used to😐. Hope that there would be a workaround

Ermonno how does it act with hidpi ? Gnome was such a pain for me with this new laptop 😂 I just went straight back to xfce seeing how easy it is to adjust to multi screens and hidpi. Plus Nvidia 😂 with hibryd. I'm enjoying my Asus laptop now I got it all configured. Made me scratch my head for two days straight.

Hi Ermanno! I've downloaded the iso and tried to install it on my Thinkpad X1 Carbon 7th gen, but the mousepad is not recognized so on the whole for me is unusable... I'll switch back to the old dear Arch 😏

Nice video, Ermanno. Every time I take a look at Gnome I hate it even more. Definitely NOT a DE for me, and I often wonder how anyone can use this. Just thinking out loud, I guess.

Hello ermanno, can you review clear linux? one thing i'm interested in is that it can install the DNF package manager(which is used on fedora), can you review this? I wonder apart from using swupd if clear linux can actually install packages from DNF?

Sorry Ermanno, i have a little BIG question not relating this video. I created a usb stick with arch linux using your guide from July 29, 2020. It has always worked well, but with the latest updates I have noticed a strange thing. Without any open browser or other programs that use the internet, the computer continuously sends data with a speed ranging from 236 to 472 Bytes per second. It never stops sending data. Do you have any idea why? Could it be some malware?
@tyyppilation2

You could try running wireshark or EtherApe to see which program is sending the data. Then google from there

@@tyyppilation2 Thank you very much. It was just what I was looking for. I tried Wireshark which only shows me "Multicast Listener Report Message v2" and EtherApe says packets are sent with "IP_UNKNOWN" protocol. But I will study better how to use these 2 programs and look for more answers.

Yeah, I'd appreciate if they add more options like mov or MP4, but knowing the "simple and minimalistic" ideology of gnome, they probably want. Still good though

A very strange version as on my taste. Screenshot tool is still useless (everybody uses Flameshot because 50% of screenshots are made with additional marks/notes), look'n'feel tends to be more kdeish, some useless software which is not needed at all.

I like it though. Its usefull if you have to quickly take a screen recording and don't have time to open an app. And now it gives the option to include cursor I'm screenshot too. But earlier when I pressed print screen it used to take screenshot, now it just opens that screenshot utility which makes taking screenshots slower. But ig there may be work around for that.

Very curious when pop will release their rust version. Gnome will be dead in two years max. A bunch of elitist nutcase devs constantly forcing "their way or the highway" stupidity. More and more distros are simply dropping it for the very same reason. Rust,qt and efl are the future.

It's doing it different. And many people do not like it. Gnome is for oldfags, so please don't tell us about KDE =) We've tested everything existing and existed.

I have a question for those who r willing to answer. Since ive never use fedora, i wonder if i can use fedora like arch based distro. Install once and use it forever. Or is fedora a point release, more like ubuntu n debian. Ive grown tired of point release distro like ubuntu where u can use it up to only certain period and after that u have to either install a new variant or do distro upgradr which often will mess up ur system. Besides im curious to know if fedora is stable for everyday use.

It is a point release OS. Fedora is pretty darned stable and they are very good at upgrading. You can always wait a few days and monitor their forums to see how many people had problems and what they did to fix them. Once you are satisfied, change the repos and update it.
