My son has the kids version of the Peter storm synthetic insulated jacket, it's been great, and still looks good after a year of use and abuse. When I worked in the tent department at Go I modified a north ridge col, cutting the weight down to 1.6kg from 1.9kg......head office copied most of my modifications and the col lite was born....sadly I got no recognition for that, but it became the bobcat 1, which still needs improvement (inner needs attachment to outer on rear guy point, and more guy points to pull the rear panel out for more internal space.

I love these kinds of reviews, and makes me wish I was back in UK again. I noticed the hybrid jacket. I think it will be windproof at the front and back but still let some heat escaper. I have something similar from Decathlon that is only quilted at the front and it is great for cycling on those dry days that still have a bit of a wind chill, and the heat and moisture can wick away throught the arms, shoulders and back, but still keeps the windchill (from cycling speed) out of my torso.

I have the Regatta Anderson V hybrid jacket in red and black. It is more of a lightweight jacket but very comfortable in chilly weather, with a shirt and jumper on as well when it gets really cold. I have just bought the OEX Hiero stove last week from Go Outdoors in Wakefield. I tested it when I got home in the kitchen and it took 1.38 minutes to boil 400ml of water. This is the amount of water you would need for a boil in the bag meal to cook and also for a hot drink too. I watched The English Woodsman on You Tube test one a few weeks ago and it boiled more or less the same amount in just over 2 minutes. The comparison Jet Boil stove took nearly 3 minutes and literally costs twice as much. The Hiero Stove costs around £45 in Go Outdoors and £50 in Millets. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap stove. Another recommendation I want to give a shout to is Nikwax TX-Direct. I bought a gallon of it from Go-Outdoors about 5 years ago and used to waterproof all my outdoor gear. It's fantastic stuff. If say your gear has a water rating of 5000 HH. TX-Direct will double it, maybe even triple it. Water literally beads up and rolls off. I even used the TX Direct on a cheap Lidl tent and in 3 years of wild camping, it has never leaked. I have re-done it once again though.

I am overall impressed with the jacket, however my only complaint’s about It is that it has no internal breast pocket and most importantly, there are no zips on the external pockets. The peter storm caldbek boots are useless in any weather except dry hot days. Yet the Buxton trainers were gripy on Tryfan from the south in winter /rainy conditions. But wear was short on sole. The waterproof sets are cheap and fairly good tbf. Overall its hit and miss, but boots wise i paid £90 at the time and seriously disappointed. Id bought them as my merells id bought from there were also useless in any weather bar dry/hit days although they were amazingly waterproof 🤔🤦♂️😂just no grip .they were about £129 i think. So i suggest sa ing the £200 mark and getting a decent pair from the off. Im north Wales based so even with expensive boots, gaiters are advised. Your boots will last longer. I love/hate go outdoors. There are some good things, some cheap things and some bargains. but they never get any new stuff in :( it could have so much more, they have massive shops. It should be a one stop shop for EVERYTHING OUTDOORS.

Has anyone ever bought anything at Go Outdoors paying full RRP? I'd love to see their faces if you said, "No thanks, I don't want a membership. I'll just pay the extra 60 quid". I bought the Peter Storm Millbeck boots in a WOW deal for £39 a couple of months ago. 120 miles later I'm really pleased with them; really comfortable and no issues with feet.
