According to a google search, 20mm costs around 45 dollars. The modern CIWS fires 75 rounds per second. This video showed a burst of roughly 5.5 seconds. 45 dollars a round X 75 rounds per second equals 3,375USD. 3,375USD X 5.5 seconds equals 18,562.5USD. This exercise costed the taxpayers 18,562.5USD. This amount is probably less than the actual cost due to the fact google only shows a generic cost for a generic 20mm round and this cannon almost certainly fires specialized rounds designed specifically for the CIWS cannon at a much higher cost per round.

I remember when they tested the CIWS on the FT.Mchentry in 2011, we were all sat on the deck with our division on the Heli pad back aft so we could all watch it dry fire at a moving airplane overhead. I couldn't believe how loud it was and when it turned to go along with the plane the tip of the turret literally shot off and landed on the deck. oh sure, if your idea of freedom is recordbreaking mass incarcaration, medical debt choking the masses, havin among the longest working hours with the weakest worker benefits or having one of the most outdated political systems and least protected civil rights of the western world ... all while being constantly in danger of getting shot by your own people (police included) in your own country. Get real buddy, thats the sound of dollars pissed in the wind while still losing wars against rice/poppy farmers and goat herders!

No, as matter of fact very organized. This system is fully automatic and only for situations when everything else failed.

Military actually pays more for ammunition than civilians…. Almost as if they are getting rich off the tax payers expense on the back end of deals… and I would know how much we pay because I was in the Marine Corps and worked the Rifle Range for almost a year
@DreadX10

And how much 30mm MPDS ammo did you ever see at that range....... The most small calibre ammo I unloaded through the barrel had a negative expense. It would cost more to dispose of it (as it was nearing its end-of-service date).

@@DreadX10 there are outliers for every situation. I’m am talking about generally . I.e the majority of the time. I can tell you that I went to school with a guy that went to the NFL, but I also can tell you I met 10,000’s of guys that didn’t.

@@sinisterCsix Buying millions of rounds at a higher price (a piece) than some-one buying 100's of rounds makes no sense. With military ammo, you get those handy metal boxes. These also cost money.

@@DreadX10 that’s the point. It doesn’t make sense. Why does the military pay more with tax payer money? How about you keep playing call of duty and dream of actually being in the service. I lived it and know what I’m talking about.
