Matthew 26:31 Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: 'I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.”' This caused the sheep to go into all nations and make disciples. The gospel may have never spread without these brutal events.

And remember, that from the Neo-Assyrian conquest of Israel and the Neo-Babylonian conquest of Judaea (last tribe of Israel, rather than the Roman province), the Jews were living under non-Jewish empires. They managed fine under the Persians, Alexander and the Ptolemies, but only when the land changed hands to the Seleucids, and Antiochus IV abandoned earlier Hellenistic permissiveness to Jewish religious particularism, did resistance occur, and successfully under the Maccabees (see Hannukah celebration).

Seems when they should have come together to fight or sue for peace on more preferably terms the various factions fought against each other burning the food they needed for a long siege. 13 legions is a massive army to throw against a small population, with no standing army. There is a lot to unpack but one thing is clear the Romans had a deep hatred against the stubbornness of the Jews. Hadrian rather than continue to to fight the various tribes in Britain built a wall to keep them out and Rome never moved further into Britain and yet he massed the largest army to eradicate the Jewish people. Shame the Doc ends, and also that it jumps to Emperor Constantine two hundred years later.

The Romans did not tolerate human sacrifice, murders, sabotages, assasinations going on among Jewish sects on and off in intensity for decades upon decades. There were conflicts during Herod the Great, later when his sons ruled, along with Pharisees, sects, ... ...they were not amused with Jews such as John, Jesus, etc Jewish sects existed back then as they do now. Judaism wasn't and still is not homogeneous. Orthodox Jews to I.e.... z!onists Back to antiquity, It's why the roman military actions to put end to the assasinations, sabotages, murders, stonings among Jews.

Was the conflict between Judaism and Rome inevitable? Herod was an exceptionally skillful and Machiavellian monarch. He balanced his troublesome subjects (who never wholeheartedly believed he was a legitimate king of the Jews) and the maelstrom of Roman politics, from Pompey, the Parthians, Nabateans, through Julius Caesar, Marc Anthony, Cleopatra VII, Octavian and two civil wars. It was a shame he could not bequeath his whole kingdom to an heir. As a client state, there would have been greater freedom, and less direct Roman presence, and perhaps less likelihood for the tragedy of the Neronian revolt. However, even if this had been the case, the trend throughout the 1st Century AD, is for client states to be peacefully absorbed into the empire. After the death of Christ, there was a low level civil disobedience/guerilla was within the Roman province of Judea, and within a hundred years of that event, there would be three Jewish revolts, one of which would be not just confined to Judea proper (the Kitos War which was a major factor behind the failure to retain Trajan's recent conquests of the western Parthian Empire). What is interesting to note is that estimates of the Jewish proportion of the Roman Empire's population range as high as 10% (5 million up), coupled with significant population centers in Mesopotamia, Persia, Arabia, etc. Jews were not an insignificant minority by any means, hence the legal protections given to Jews around their, what were seen by pagans, as peculiar religious practices.

The Jews could never defeat Roma. God ordained that Rome would rule over them and the world at the time. The prophecy interpreted by Daniel is the fulfillment. Just as Greece, Persia before Rome.
