I can't entirely agree with the way John interprets Psalm 50:16-22 from the Message Bible because the wording really contradicts what Jesus has called us to do. Jesus came and he befriended adulteresses and thieves in the form of tax collectors (Matthew 9:10). The NKJV is more apt at wording Psalm 50:16-22 "When you saw a thief, you consented[a] with him, And have been a partaker with adulterers.". To partake and consent in sinful behaviour is different from just befriending someone engaged in it. The fear of the Lord should allow us to love the broken and sinful as Jesus did while being wary not to partake in their sin. Because if the Message bible wording is taken literally, everyone at church should have been shunned away and treated as outcasts one point in their lives! If we do not befriend the man embezzling money as John said, how will He be preached the gospel?

You are proofing John's point.

I agree. Although I do think John is correct in the over all message he presents here. This is just a weird interpretation that the Message Bible has. I love the Message Bible as a commentary, not necessarily as something to preach from.
