Earlier this week, we celebrated Cinnamastā Jayanti. Because this mysterious self-decapitating Goddess is shared by both the "Hindu" and "Buddhist" Tantrik traditions, I argue that Tantra transcends doctrines, dogmas and religions and furnishes everyone, regardless of their religious orientation, with universal methods for attaining a direct experience of Reality which some might call God and others, the luminous Void.
In any case, Cinnmastā Devī gives us a wonderful bridge between the Tantrik forms of Hinduism and those of Buddhism allowing us to compare and contrast and ultimately reconcile these two wonderful sister traditions, which are sometimes Śākta Tantra and Vajrayāna Buddhism.
In this talk, which we gave on Buddha Pūrnimā yesterday, we go on a journey into the very heart of Tantra by learning about Cinnamastā/Vajravārāhi from a Vajrayāna lens!
May this be an offering to the Buddha, the embodiment of compassion.
May this be an offerings to all beings who are turning towards awakening,
who are awakening
And who are awakened!
Jai Mā!
