I love the 80s and sometimes choose to live there when I get away from here, but in the decades since, progress has been made in some ways. We as a society wouldn't have allowed the changes of time if we didn't want some things to change. For one, I'm glad to see all the coke and heroin reduced, but sad to see it often replaced with meth. Storytelling imo has taken a dive though. 80s did more with so much less for storytelling. The writers these days miss their marks often, imo.

Miami native... Had a chance to visit the set of Miami Vice when they filmed a short segment of an episode on South Beach back in '86. Those were the days. I remember before Miami Vice ever aired one eposode, how desolate and depressing all of Miami Beach was especially down in SoBe. Just old retired WWII vets for miles and miles and decrepit hotels from the 20s, 30s, and 40s, barely hanging on for dear life. Even the beloved Fountainbleu was in disrepair but Miami Vice changed all that and after the last season aired, Miami Beach and South Beach in particular was never the same again. After Versace was murdered, things changed again but this time it all started to go downhill and nowadays, I wouldn't be caught dead down in SoBe. Truly nothing but low lifes and thugs. Finally left the 305 back in 2005 and with the occassional visit every 5 years or so, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. I prefer to leave that beloved slice of my past safe in my memories, where pastel colors shine bright like the sun and beauty is all around in "MY" Miami, RIP 1977-1997.

@@joeshmoe9978 That would only make sense if they kept it in the 1980s. It's called progress. Just like in the 80s they weren't still calling women broads and dames. Miami Vice was actually based on the 1970s show Starsky and Hutch but geared towards an MTV audience. By making it more stylized, fast-paced, and including soundtracks of popular 1980s music. According to one of the directors, "The show is written for an MTV audience which is more interested in images, emotions and energy than plot and character." This video emphasizes that point.

The Best and Most Exciting Time of my Life was the 80’s. I graduated High School in 1984, Drove a Fast Classic Car, Hit all the Best Night Clubs on Long Island and New York City every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights and watched Every Episode of Miami Vice every Friday Night before going out! It pumped me up before hitting the clubs like no other show could. I have every episode on Blu-Ray and Digitally on VUDU and still watch them all the time! God how I miss those days! 🏝⛵🍸🌞

I remember watching this show through my young teens and it usually left me with my jaw dropped, I would think over and over of the episodes. I was hooked on the sound tracks, the emotion they stirred. This followed me for years later. Memories of this show left me with some kind of stoic melancholy. This show shaped my life, seriously.

The sound, the melody, the coolness, the vibe, the lyrics, etc. the 80s always bring yearning, reminisce and nostalgia. Miami Vice was a trend changer during the 80s.

I know this will sound strange but...as a society. things have deteriorated because society has gradually moved away from the ways of God......which are the ways of wisdom....The people who are mostly God oriented, though they don't often make a big show of it, allowed the left....(who are;... so sorry.....for the most part completely Godless) to infiltrate Government, schools, media, corporations, Hollywood, and have lost a large part of todays young people through their indoctrination and moral degeneracy. America used to raise young men and women to be eventually mothers and fathers and patriots. Now the left has turned them (not all but soooo many)into sex obsessed porn watchers. and that is just part of the picture.

I love this episode. You don’t know how to play the game, because you cheat and you lie. Heartless and so very cold. How can you kill so many people without hesitation, without feeling anything. The best part is when Don Johnson, appeared and she realizes her boyfriend was dead, she just fell back into seduction mode. I did love her reaction when she saw the cops coming, her face didn’t change, she just give him a kiss, she was not even angry, no reaction. You don’t even know how to say goodbye. More deadly than poison. Great episode!

A perfect example is the Miami Vice movie. I guess some liked it, but I thought it was awful. No one else can play Crockett and Tubbs. I wish there was something they could do together again. The two episodes of Nash Bridges that PMT was in were great. Of course, the minute they were on screen together, it was no longer Nash Bridges, it was Miami Vice

The memories of that era that come flooding back when I watch this. That show was such a strong departure from anything before it. The way it was shot and music were so ground breaking for TV at the time. There were SO many future stars who got their first major exposure on that show. Seeing this makes me want to go back to the 80's so badly. I was in my early to mid twenties when this show was new. It's influence on that era was beyond measure. If only I could go back with the knowledge I have now.
