This might sound like a silly question but if you had to choose between the LC500R bouncing off a reflector/through a diffusion panel or say the GVM P80S with a 24” softbox, which would you pick? I don’t wish to buy too much equipment so I have a bit of a dilemma. Use case would be something portable for talking head type scenes or lighting someone from 2-3m away. I like how the LC500R is portable, has bicolor and rgb for flexibility and creativity but it’s really difficult to tell how well this could light a subject from a bit of distance. I know a softbox and COB light would have more power and create a softer light but I wonder if the LC500R could achieve something similar albeit with less output? Also lastly, does the LC500R work continuously plugged in? Battery life could be an issue long term?
@ArtVideoProductions
4 жыл бұрын
David M LC500R battery life: 90 minutes, portable, RGB, barn doors. Best results, keep it close to subject. GVM P80-S: not portable, has more power, can mount Bowen’s modifiers. One for key light the other for everything else. You have to buy both for anything you are trying to shoot. And the P80S is very inexpensive but won’t do half of what the LC500R can do. If you get both, use the P80S as keylight and the RC as backlight

Hi there. I’m do weddings as well and I understand the concern AND the stress that comes along filming a wedding. Godox specs says it will last 2 hours at 100%. I haven’t tested it BUT, I can assure you that this thing charges FAST! It’s a high current charger. Sorry I don’t remember exactly how long but I’d GUESS in about 30 minutes it would charge in full again. Also, be careful where you’re handling the light as you can easily bump on a button and accidentally change something. Don’t hold it from the handle. Hold it slightly above the handle.

You can run both and the power supply is included. Make sure you charge the battery first to 100% before using it at the same time. The battery will thank you for not putting stress on it since it would be charging and discharging at the same time. You might also consider in looking at my Godox TL-60 review. @ArtVideoProductions

Chad Perkins you certainly CAN. And it depends. However, any light or device that uses lithium ion battery, I would not advise you to plug the charger with a dead or close to exhausted battery in while using the light as it will cause a lot of stress on the battery since it’s trying to charge itself thus being drained at once. Only do this when the battery is at least at 60% and that you’re not blasting the light at 100%.

David M no problem :) well, most people like shooting video with exaggerated wide aperture all the time at f1.4. F8 is 5 times less light than 1.4. So, you’re good to go in most situations including outdoors, shooting even using ND filters at wide apertures. This light is plenty bright for almost everything that’s NOT far. Antonio José that ball head is a Benro, very tiny, very strong. it’s a 3/8 thread which is even more awesome. I would say, as long as you plug it in ALREADY fully charged, you will be able to run it at 80%. If you do 100, the adapter will get hot and stressed, since the battery is being used and charged at once. Any light, any brand, will suffer on that.

@@ArtVideoProductions So basically, you are limited to 1 hour and a half (battery life expected at 100%) in order to have the 100% output. I was considering this for interviews but I normally take longer than that in some cases so I think Im not getting it. I need something that I can either plug to a wall for a day or use with interchangeable batteries. I think that internal battery is a limitation if you cant rely on a external dc input for powering.
