As a Godzilla fan, I really loved the film. Godzilla never gets critical acclaim, so that makes me very happy. I thought the characters were wonderfully written and everything about it was fantastic. I don’t know about you, but I think the film really nails similar themes of 50s and early 60s Japanese cinema: The theme of finding purpose in a world of suffering. The theme of should I keep on living or die? I think it fits right in with the likes of Ikiru and Sansho the Bailiff, and it feels like the culmination of that time period.

Glad you enjoyed this film. My brother and I had the best time in the theater with this film. I haven't seen every Godzilla but I can say this might be the best one since the 1954 one. It's definitely in the top three alongside 54 and Shin Godzilla.

This is my favorite movie of 2023. I loved the chemistry between the boat crew, the retro score, and Godzilla's design, etc. It does so much right that the minor flaws don't lessen the experience in my opinion. 10/10 for me.

[SPOILERS] Wait dude, did you not see what was on her neck in that final moment? I thought, it was maybe a bit too neat until those final two shots and then I was devastated all over again. Great movie.

"Perfect except it has a happy ending... 8/10." US society in a nutshell.

I didn’t say it was perfect except that lol also yea.. sometimes happy endings can feel right. But with a film like this, it felt too safe and forced imo.

Great Godzilla. Fighting the cruiser or battleship was so sweet. However, Shin still is number 1 for me.
