GOES 17 and 16 equirectangular view. Data from twin receivers I have for 16 and 17. This is from April 1 through May 5th, 2021.
Some interesting things to look for:
1. You can see the shadow of the earth begin to change angle as we orbit the sun on our axis from leaving the spring equinox and head towards the June Solstice.
2. You will see 2 reflections of the sun. This is because each GOES Satellite is in a different orbital position. and when both sets of imagery are merged and reprojected the dual sun glint is revealed.
3. You can see the temperatures rising as the greys and bullish tints become more and more green.
4. You can track some power storms rolling across the Hemisphere.
5. There are some skips and misses as GOES 17 is having its cooling timeline implementation solution running. And there was a timing issue from GOES 17 that for a short while was not corrected.
