Alter pitch. Chop sections you like. Make it blend in with main melody. Reverb the chops sometimes delay.

Hey, I see that he has a lot of compressors stacked together on certain tracks. What's the reasoning behind compressing things numerous times on the same track? I'm a beginner and I'm trying to understand. (Same question with stacking multiple eq's on top of the same track. Why not make all of the same insertions in one eq?)
@timzimmermann791
4 жыл бұрын
many people argue that stacking multiple compressors (that all compress a little) Sounds more Natural and you can achieve heavier compression without it getting "destroyed"... Same thing with the eqs. correct me If i'm wrong tho
@justingriffin36

@@timzimmermann791 I think you're right. I went on reddit and asked the same question and that's what everybody else said
@baddiemcbadbad9231

Yep. As people mentioned earlier it helps compression sound more natural. If you have really heavy compression with just one compressor it can sound very distorted and unnatural. When you have multiple compressors working it spreads out the load, rather than having one do all of it.
@musicbyabe

It's called sidechain compression
@kredibled
11 ай бұрын
two years late but went to ensure nobody thinks this is what side chaining is. This is serial compression. Side chain compression is using another signal as the input to the compressor “trigger”. It can be used for instance, to make a bass “compress/duck” when a kick drum hits, or have a reverb signal ducked when the vocal/instrument is playing, just some examples but there’s plenty of use cases for sidechaining (separate input from compressed signal)
