One thing that I do know about the Golan Heights is that there are several packs of the Indian race of wolves there that is a subspecies of the Grey Wolf. Though ranchers and herders do not particularly care for them, conservationists are trying to protect them. One would think that these wolves could serve as a tourist attraction in the same way that the wolves of Yellowstone Park in the United States do.

Don't let natives host you with a banquet in your honor or the rest of your time will be completely planned out down to the shrine, masjid, temple, synagogue mosque. Counter with where is the address and time you worship so we can see if plans back at suit case can accommodate. Middle east hospitality is unsurpassed

I planned for Golan for a future travel to Israel... but I might need to reconsider. I heard of many great wineries up there but recently found out I'm an idol worshipper according to Halakha and Jews are not permitted to derive benefit, like selling wine or pouring wine to a non-jew.... It was a all a bit confusing. Perhaps someone would like to clarify? I do like red wines and from what I've heard, the Golan is the best producers of red wine in Israel.

So anyone can put up their tent anywhere and it's permitted? One can do a hike and camp wherever they please? There are no restrictions to put the tent only in specific places? And if one picks to put up the tent anywhere it's free? I'm asking because here in Canada it is absolutely forbidden to put a tent anywhere outside of an official campground and the official campgrounds are very expensive.
