www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jun/13/golden-gate-bridge-hum-noise-san-francisco “After studying this phenomenon extensively, we’ve determined that the sound comes from new and more aerodynamic railing that we installed on the west sidewalk,” said bridge spokesperson Paolo Cosulich-Schwartz. “It was part of a Golden Gate Bridge retrofit designed to protect the bridge for future generations by allowing it to withstand sustained high winds up to 100mph.” Though I don't think it's fair to blame it on the suicide prevention barriers, since “With the impacts of climate change leading to more severe weather events, there was even more urgency to complete it as soon as possible.”

I hear two notes at different pitches, one flat, each one wavering in intensity. I would guess one is caused by the supporting cables and one by the upright towers. The wavering is caused by wind gusts. I suggest suspending study fabric panels between some of the structural elements. However, this might cause cars on the bridge to swerve on windy days, causing accidents. I am sure the engineers will find a solution.
