It also demonstrates his mastery in control of the weapon. A person could theoretically just learned to manipulate the staff in the same way a cheerleader does with a baton in a marching band. What separates and divides it into a martial perspective is its intended use. And twirling a staff/weapon as well as the ability to control and direct it has purposes beyond its prettiness to the eyes- The flash is more reserved for the marching band baton-twirlers.. Spinning a weapon a recovery-to-control offensive and defensive contacts with the weapon as well as to sew confusion for offensive purposes. And tho it is pretty to see, the intents and reasons behind the technique are for entirely different outcomes.
