@@Bullet730 Booker always said that "Goldie" was helping him as creative had nothing for either of them so when they were told to do the skits they both were pretty much getting paid to be at home. They were used as comic relief which Booker in the same interview had said was fun to do and gave him time to fish and relax. So when they didn't shoot vignettes or wrestle(rare occasion) they got to take care of themselves (gold dust had been in recovery and through a divorce at this time hence his lack of screen time)

Funny thing Goldust wasn't just a character he was a really good wrestler, he moves looked like he had real impact. Selling is one thing but being able to make something look brutal without actually hurting someone is an art.

They did hate it. It was just that they were professionals, and his son built an iconic character out of a terrible gimmick. He actually left the WWF(E) and went to WCW to get away from having to play gold dust. It was when he returned to the character that he made it into a popular gimmick.

There will never be another like Dustin Rhodes. Took what creative probably regarded as a throw away gimmick or fad and completely owned it for better or worse. Made it something memorable. I still get a kick out of his encounter with Asuka. That had me rolling 😂

To me, thee very reason Goldust lasted so long, is because even if you hated him, he was actually in-your-face type of style, funny. Through all the years he’s (his character) has always been funny. The Against the grain mentality is what has made him truly stand out and I get it. I never saw myself as a fan, but I get it.
