I know what they are but it would be worth calling out to the viewers which are hollow body and which are one-piece irons. Also a good call out on the Mizuno irons being 1-2 degrees flatter than everyone else. It's not bad dispersion, it's fitting specs there.

Just the comparison test I’ve been waiting for, Players Cavity back. 2 years ago i was custom fit at Club Champion NJ and what I thought originally was a good fitting turned out not so much... My driver head speed is 100 mph and 7 iron was 80 mph; I got fit for Callaway Apex Pro ‘19 irons. They were great feeling irons but not doing my HW prior to my fitting I didn’t realize 4,500 avg spin and a height of 75 feet with my 7 iron wasn’t enough to generate enough back spin and the landing angle wasn’t hight enough (Ironically my Trackman data didn’t give my landing angle #’s). After watching this , next year it will be either Ping i210’s (or replacement) or TM P770’s. I just picked up a good set of used Callaway X-14 Pro Series which ive read are amazing even though they’re 20 years old. In 2004 I was custom fit for X-18 Pro Series which i kept for 6 years and in 2010 moved into Mizuno MP-58’s. I hit my old X-18 PS’s 2 weeks ago and they still feel amazing and have loads of forgiveness. Hoping these X-14 PS’s are just as good if not better. I know they have VFT in their face which i think was the first time they debuted in irons..

Spin was the reason I chose the i210s when I got fit last fall. My 95mph driver speed doesn't generate a lot of speed or spin with irons but I was able to get the i210s consistently in the high 5s & touch 6K a few times with my 7 iron while not sacrificing any distance from my current set which spun in the low 5s consistently. I didn't try all of these clubs of course, but if you're looking for a good set of players cavity backs the i210s are a solid club and probably the cheapest of the bunch as well.

NExt year it will be Ping i210’s or TM P770’s.

@@stephendibari5010 I average around 75 feet as well. I didn't hit the Callaways but the real GI clubs I tested like G425s, Wilson D7's etc were going further but with spin around 4500 give or take. It pays to test a bunch of different clubs and see how the numbers work out as I suspect it's not the same for everyone.

@@johnnypenso9574 the fitter didn’t set the data to show landing angle, at 70 feet high with only 4500 rpm backspin I’m almost certain I was under 45°. Unfortunately I’ve should’ve been better prepared. With those GI irons like G425 they’re designed to hold greens even with low spin. Conversely I didn’t try them out. I can tell for sure I won’t be going back to club champion.

@@stephendibari5010 That's unfortunate. I'm lucky in that I work with a small local shop and I was able to try any club I wanted at my leisure before doing the actual fitting. Some I liked, some I didn't. I wasn't a fan of the GI and super GI clubs. There's no advantage to me to hitting a 7 iron 160-165 yards because all it does is increase the gaps in my higher lofted irons and that's where I do most of my scoring.

Another peach of a video. I own the MMC and have set of ZX7 in a box which Im considering switching to. But I love my MMC. I'm 6'3 and only bent my 4, 5, 6 irons 2°, 1°, 1° upright, and left the scoring irons default because I don't like a left miss with those clubs. Thanks for bringing up the Mizuno lie angle. This was a great comparison. Wonder why so much dispersion with the MP20 MMC ? Right now I am torn between that club and the JPX921 Forged. I for one would love to see the exact same test done with your lower swinging colleague and compare. I think she plays AP2 now. (Sorry forget her name :( ) It would be enlightening to see the effects of the club heads in the hands of a lower swing speed player that also has a very good strike!

Great review. I would love to see the same test using the 4-iron. The average golfer like me could buy a set of any of these irons but maybe struggle with the longer irons. Would love to know which set would have the most functional long irons (height, spin, dispersion etc.). I currently use the MMC but bought the P-770 in the 4 and 5 iron last fall and can't believe how well they perform. Much better than my Mizuno. Very easy to launch with a high, straight flight. That convinced me to order the rest of the set. Would love to know all of these irons down to the 4 but would spend a fortune doing so. Hopefully you guys will consider ???!!! Thanks.

Interesting to see. Having recently tested on the course and over several rounds and with my gamer ball for my swing speed a number of irons (srixon zx7, p770, apex pro 21 of those you have done here - no mim in left hand, but also jpx921 sel/tour and pxg), I shortlisted the apex pro 21, jpx 921, and pxg for further verification also looking at different shafts. I ended up with pxg for distance, smallest dispersion and spin consistency with the mmt shaft but equally minimal drop off. My second choice would have been the mizuno. But neither came close to the pxg. Also tested the apex pro in the mmt shaft.

The problem I have with the looks of the Callaway and Cobra irons is the back of the club - it is an advertising/branding billboard and very off putting. Fortunately you do not see the back of the club at address. I prefer my irons to look simple. Looks without performance is no use. In terms of spin v distance it is a balancing act. I have previously struggled a little bit with not enough spin so I play the i210s and I have tried the P770s which I really enjoyed but did n't do anything more than the i210s for me. Those Srixon's though seem to have a nigh on perfect balance between looks, feel, spin and distance
