Very helpful still as it is time for my 1997 MK3 (25 years old). I just need to find that big cone cone shape piece. I measure it is about 3.07" inner diameter needed. Did use the all thread to remove the bushings as well?

lol does it look like factory made? just level out the bushing outer sleeve. you can get right sized pipe and cut out the form of the bushings outer sleeve, or better yet just get something between there like this guy did. he just stacked the shorter side of the sleeve with pieces of scrap.
