Put this grip on my driver and played yesterday. It is really soft, comfortable and incredibly tacky. I never lost a shot because of a slipping grip. I would recommend this grip over the CP2. Will do the fairway and hybrid this week. Great content Jim.

I have these on one set of irons. CP2 pro on the other. What I found trying them, was I turned the grip to the quilted section up and down. My hands don't really touch the side of the club much. Sits in my fingers on the bottom, heel of my hand on top. This grip orientation feels better, to me anyway. My weight testing showed very similar results. Plus with the arthritis in my wrists and hands getting much worse the last few years, these feel a bit better than the CP2 pro.

Mac I could use a suggestion. I've talked to you before about the Tacoma irons I have with the KBS tour regular steel shafts. And you were correct at my age which is 80 I cannot hit them. I have too many off-brand golf clubs lying around and I know that you are affiliated with Accra. There are many pull-outs on eBay could you give me a recommendation in the weight range and I assume I need a senior shaft which I will have to do this all myself but it's something I like to do. But I played two rounds with these golf clubs and have yet to hit a green in regulation. I know this is mostly health-related problems but I could use a suggestion. I can't buy no means afford to buy any more clubs and I honestly am thinking about giving the game up but it's hard to let go. Thanks in advance.

Great video, thanks! Got one of these grips a couple weeks ago and noticed that with the "quilted" texture it seemed to be maybe a size or half-size smaller than the designation... saying my midsize FEELS almost like a standard due to the missing material on the sides. Without excessive pressure, just seems like the low spots between the "quilts" might be a better sizing point. (and no, I didnt stretch it out putting it on)

Great video. I think a lot of people tend to overthink the swing weight effect. Unless you are a high level player that is super in tune to those feels. It’s always been curious to me that you could have 2 clubs that have an identical total weight (head + Shaft + grip) but one club has the weight distributed in a different ratio to give you a different swing weight and feel. Or sometimes one club can by heavier than the same club but have the weight distributed in way that makes it feel lighter! Have you heard of a company called Switch Grips? The sell grips that have a port in the cap where you can install different weights to counter balance your clubs like the super stroke putter grips.

I have very upright stance due to back issues and hit up on the ball. Very little to no lag. Comfortable club lengths 40"-38". I need iron heads that can be bent significantly to get the correct lie (75 degree ish) and lofts to achieve the correct carry distances for each club. I figure the 5 iron would need to be approx. 15 to 19 degree loft. What club head (s) do you recommend for this? I have some Mizuno JPX800's would they work? Thank you.

Oh yeah. I have the JPX921 Forged 4-9 irons and I tried something new - bought the Z Cord grip (same as your video). Boy, the shaft felt awfully stiff to me, the grips felt hard and not tacky to me. Way too hard. I have a set of AP1 irons with the same shafts and your velvet grips, and the shaft feel significantly flexier, which made me feel way more confident that I’d be able to whip the club head through. Just ordered the CPX grips the other day and then stumbled on this video. And boy am I pumped to get these CPX grips on these irons. The Z cord felt so stiff and shitty…

I put these on my irons and driver a couple weeks ago. I love the feel out of the gate but today went to the range (hit them a couple other times at the range) and today they felt kinda dusty. I feel like to keep that tacky feel it would require washing after every range or course use.

@trenton5745
2 жыл бұрын
Buy a midsize grip and put it on one of your irons. Play with it. Does it feel better? Do you have more club control? There is no one size fits all approach to determining grip size. It’s what you as the golfer feels most comfortable with. There are a lot of old wives tales regarding grip size. Buy a midsize you like have it installed and go test it.
@trenton5745

@MeandMyStaffy so when Sergio Garcia has a swing weight of d3 in his irons dry weighed then installs his 27 gram butt weight in his shafts which yields a swing weight of c7 post installation he’s messing up his swing weight? According to Wade Liles of Taylormade if a player is using excess weight in the butt section such as the additional 12+ grams potentially added when a midsize or jumbo grip is used, it’s standard procedure to dry measure prior to the excess butt weight addition. They don’t compensate accordingly and put 27 grams back in the hosel in order to “save his swing weight”. That would be idiotic. Swing weight is a measurement of feel. To many get fixated on this measurement as an end all be all. Listen to Mike Taylor discuss his thoughts on swing weight. He knows much more about club fitting and building then either of us. There is a reason he was instrumental in developing the p7 Tw irons and still builds Tigers clubs to this day. If mark puts midsize grips on his clubs and the swing weight goes to c9 yet he strikes the ball better and hits more greens is he messing up his swing weight??
@legend9018

Jack Nicklaus used to counter weight his irons (subsequently reducing the swing weight) seems to have worked out pretty well for him. Switch Grips is a cool company that has custom weights of varying amounts you can install to get the feel you want.
