This has been one of my favourites for years. I particularly like Gongs attuned to Neptune. This performance (and instrument!) is beautiful.

I just listened to twelve minutes worth of a guy playing gongs from six years ago. And I'd have happily kept right on listening for another hour. And I *don't know why*. The sounds are just unearthly and beautiful. Masterful performance, thank you!

Really enjoyed that mate, I've just started doing sound healing as a free service, gong wise I have a 26" wind and a28" paiste, think I'm gonna invest in a Neptune, nice sounds and small enough to move round the room in a session. Maybe one day I can move to a larger gong, that 60" is awesome 🙏💚🌍🙌

Never experienced anything like this before. Amazing. I live a half a mile from the beach in Santa Cruz, CA. The whales have been exceptionally close to shore the past few years. I believe I will think of this every time I see them from now on. It would be amazing to play a recording of this on a boat while they are passing. Would love to see how they would respond. Thank you so very much sharing your expertise.

The whale sounds on the 60" gong are made using a flumi, a hard rubber ball which Judders at high speed across the surface.

I've been to many gong washes, but never seen one that big!!!! The sound is amazing!!!! Just wish there was no static in the background... Truly awesome!!!! Wish it was longer

Hello, Mark Swan, thank you for this wonderful gong bath. I was searching, if you have this kind of sound available on your website, unfortunately not this one. It is my favourite, 12 min. is fine but I would like to have a longer version. It helps me tremendously. Do you have any suggestions? (I live in Berlin, Germany)

Would you recommend a 34" chau gong for meditation/relaxation? I found a good deal on a used one with a stand. The price is comparable to a 20-22" symphonic without stand. It would be my first gong.

David Stefanowicz 34" is a wonderful size gong for personal or group use, also not too big to transport if necessary. Having a stand is a huge added bonus. As long as the gong is not cracked or damaged it should be a good deal. Best wishes and happy gonging!

@@mikey_mike I've looked for preloved/used gongs too - maybe someone got bored of it, inherited it and didn't like it - but, no! I cant afford the sound healing course here in England £3000 excluding instruments, accommodation and travel! I do my own vibrational meds with singing bowls, chimes, drums and rattles but I'd love a gong so much!! Are you a sound healer?😻🌿

Not really. A lot of the techniques used are just how anyone would normally play the gong. It’s just not a typical instrument, therefore it has an alien sound to you.

Awesome. Is that gong made out of nickel silver sheet? Also, how thick is the metal, .125 inch (1/8 inch)(3.175mm)(8-9gauge)? Also, if you or anyone knows where to purchase nickel silver sheets large enough to make a gong of this size or larger (80inch), any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you✌

the whale sounds are created by using a Flumi. This is a silicone rubber mallet that is scrapped across the metal surface to produce a shuddering sound.

Gong flumi. The are special rubber mallets used for making interesting sound effects with a gong. Sounds are like the songs of dolphins and whales.

Technically those are not gongs, they are tam-tams. Gongs have a boss in the middle that gives it a specific tone.

These instruments are no gongs. Its a tamtam. A gong has a more bent rim and a bump in the middle. And it is tuned and can be found in sets with different pitches.

Actually, what you're talking about is called a nipple-gong. Tamtams and nipple-gongs are both gongs.

It's rather disconcerting that the timer cuts off the beautiful and haunting work before it ends on its own. That happened to the prior one I was listening to also and it's not satisfying to hear the natural end of the music. And who would have guessed that so much music could be elicited from basically a flag piece of metal

Actually those ARE gongs. :-) Technically they are tam-tams but a tam-tam is a type of gong. Here's a good explanation: www.pmgongs.com/gong-or-tam-tam.htm
