For years I used ricotta cheese but I've always hated it, so last year I started making it with cottage cheese and me and the grandkids love it a lot better, and you just made me pull my lasagna out of the freezer for tonight 😂 . Y'all stay Blessed..

If you put the cottage cheese into a blender or food processor it gives you the texture of the ricotta. We like the ricotta but prefer the price of cottage cheese. Mixed with some Parmesan and mozzarella and it's perfect.

Hi Renea and John! That’s what I do when I make lasagna since it’s just me. I can get six meals out of a 9x13 pan of lasagna. I do the same with anything I cook and after a little bit I have my freezer stocked with different meals I can choose from depending on the mood I’m in and what sounds good to me. I like cottage cheese better than ricotta and it freezes beautifully. Good job Renea stocking meals for the freezer and family. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed day!

I mix ricotta, cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, and feta cheese for my cheese layer. Also, adding dehydrated onions, garlic, and seasonings helps firm up the layer too. My momma made lasagna with the spaghetti seasoning packet, ground beef and olives, and mushrooms layered with plain ricotta and mozzarella cheese, I appreciate her because she cooked every night after working 8 hours all week.

Always love watching your videos Renee!!! This lasagna looks absolutely delicious!!! You’re videos are such a nice and normal, deviation from what we have been dealing with down here!! We live in Bradenton, Florida and just survived two back-to-back hurricanes!! We are very blessed and grateful that we didn’t have as much damage as a lot of people have had🙏🙏🙏 Our weather lately has been a nice reprieve from the extreme hot and humid weather!! I think today it was a high of 77 degrees! Thank you Lord!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏 You’re videos are like a comforting, fuzzy-feeling, welcome home!! No kidding!!!❤️❤️❤️

I think we always find it odd to watch the way our US cousins make lasagne (i.e. using cottage / ricotta cheese), because we make ours by alternating ragu sauce and lasagne sheets with white sauce. Isn’t it odd how differently various countries throughout the world interpret the same recipes?

Your way sounds delicious. But I believe some people make it both ways here in the USA. I've only made it with ricotta. But cottage cheese would be more economical. And with food costs so high that a big deal.

I use cottage cheese as well. I throw mine in the blender for a little smoother texture. Think I'll try it without that step. I also sometimes use zucchini instead of pasta and it comes out great and this is from someone whose middle name is Carbs! Also, what is that jar opener thing you used? My old hands have trouble getting jars open. Hope all's well.

Just question not judging, why do you serve meals in pie plates?
@LittleVillageHomestead
2 күн бұрын
they are not pie plates, they are stainless dinner plates. But I do use pie plates at times. They do work great for stews and other things. These stainless plates I get from my Amish friend. They are nice and also oven proof for reheating foods. No offence taken my friend. Many folks ask about these plates. You can get them on amazon and they are awesome for camping too.

I know that will taste divine, but I don't like lasagne. Love the sauce but not the pasta in sheets like that. I find it 'claggy'.
