Interesting notes about the two dumb celestial lovebirds in the beginning; In the book, it's explained that Angels and Demons aren't male or female, they just look it, and in the show, during the frucifixion scene and the bit with Nanny Ashtoreth, Crowley was actually going as a woman, not just pretending to be one, which makes all the Non-Binary and Trans fans just GIDDY! We finally get an adorable bean in media to represent people like us! Aziraphale even identifies as female at least once, he just is very fond of his look and doesn't change it. XD And in the scene in the first ep, where Hastur gave Crowley the baby, when he signed for him, the book made a note of having him sign Anthony J Crowley, which Hastur disliked and told him to sign his "real name," which made Crowley "nod mournfully" before signing that sigil the shoe used. And if that isn't a "dead naming," I don't know what is! ALSO, in the book, Crowley took a century-long nap in the 19th century, which in the show would have coincided with their fight over the holy water in the park. So he took a 100-year depression nap after his crush rejected him. Basically, these two are dumb babies who don't know how to use their words and are very precious and dumb. XD

Another thing I love about those two is that Neil Gaiman has said that it is a love story, but of what kind is up to the reader/watcher. So it could be just platonic love, or romantic without sex or they could have sex every night. The possibilities are endless.
@hellsingmongrel

@@sawdusttostardust Yep. XD And I don't blame him. You spend thousands of years, building a relationship, think your crush is at the very least your bestie, and then the rug gets yoonked out from under you because they don't believe you when you say you're just trying to protect yourself and swears off the friendship? DEPRESSION NAP, AWAYYYY!

@@scouttyra Yep! If you think it's Queer Platonic? Absolutely valid! Ace romantic boyfriends? Totally legit! Boinking like bunnies? Ship your best ship, you glorious perve! XD And honestly, I could absolutely see any of those being just as much IC as the other! It doesn't matter WHAT type of love they have, but it is undeniably a very loving, devoted relationship! My personal headcanon is ace-spectrum boyfriends. It's like food. "You want crepes today?" "That sounds delightful!" But it's not important and usually doesn't even cross their minds, cuz canonically, Celestials just don't have those instincts. They've just been on Earth and around humans long enough to go a little native. XD

True love was discovered/created in the "Garden of Eden". Aziraphale and Crowley (aka Crawley due to him being the Serpent....he has a tattoo of his animal near his sideburn instead of keeping it on top of his head like the other demons)....they are the ultimate "frenemies"(aka an " old married couple"). They love each other and hate the fact that they Do love each other. They are afraid not only of their "higher ups" but also afraid to let their emotions give them away. They are willing to go to extreme lengths and put themselves in harms way to save each other. They are So Adorable Together 🥰🥰😍😍😍👍👍👍👍👍

Neil Gaiman: I have limited screen real estate to tell this story comprehensively. also Neil Gaiman: So let's stop the plot for half an hour of new content that's all about how much Crowley and Aziraphale love each other! (There was apparently a suggested script revision that cut the cold-open gloriousness to a scene dropped from the final sequence and ONLY that scene, which wouldn't have been nearly enough.) The book also suggests that a. Crowley and Aziraphale know the Witchfinder Army is a mutual contact and b. it isn't their only mutual contact. They'd possibly both still be surprised at just how small the army is, though for my money Crowley knows Shadwell's ripping him off and doesn't care (Hell deserves to be swindled by a human).

Perhaps one of the longest cold opens in a tv show. It's here you get a full exposure that Aziraphale and Crowley are perhaps not all the stereotype they're made to be; Aziraphale shows himself to be easily tempted to gluttony while Crowley shows compassion, all while taking little jabs of classic biblical tales

Neil Gaiman wrote in the cold open because the original structure of the screenplay was basically cutting up the book into 6 parts and he realized that this third part/third episode based on the book barely had any of Aziraphale and Crowley in it. So he decided to add in this 30 minute cold open! Sadly there were two scenes that got cut from it: one around 1800 where Aziraphale's bookshop opens and Crowley attempted to bring him chocolates but Gabriel showed up and a short scene from 1967 where Crowley goes to buy a "psychadelic jacket -- but black". I'm really sad they had to cut the bookshop opening scene (i recommend finding a copy of the script/a synopsis of it!) but overall what we did get was amazing!

Finally somebody talks about the bookshop scene that got cut! I really hope to see it fully filmed and acted out one day, it's just perfect! What Crowley and Aziraphael have is not friendship or love, because those are human words. They have seen Empires rise and fall together. They have seen the best and the worst of eachother for millenias. How can human words explain something humans can never comprehend because we have barely a century to work with. PS. Also the fact that they have no need to procreate unlike us meatbags is a factor. (Some of this was quoted from Dresden Files)
