La mejor canción de la historia, medio millón de dólares, innovación, complejidad y éxito comercial, GOOD VIBRATIONS

There's also a video here on KZitem that's a compilation of studio footage. It shows Carl Wilson playing a Fender Precision Bass, so perhaps his track made it on the record. Also, this was not actually part of the SMILE sessions. It was a session unto itself specifically for a single, sandwiched between PET SOUNDS and SMILE, but not intended for either.

Thank you I'll correct the smile session tidbit. There are just so many different modules recorded for Good Vibrations that it'd be really hard to pin point who played what without good documentation. I wish the Beach Boys were documented as much as the Beatles were in terms of their recording sessions.

Carl did not play any bass on Pet Sounds. He did play for around maybe a third of Wild Honey not long after (and played bass when Brian re-joined the live band briefly in Hawaii also in later 67). Whilst at the time Good Vibrations was started during Pet Sounds and was recorded at length with the intention for it to be a single , I don't begrudge calling it part of the Smile Session (and indeed it was released as part of the official Smile Sessions in 2011). By the time Good Vibrations sessions had concluded there was already early attempts at Our Prayer, Holidays, Wonderful, He Gives Speeches, Look and Heroes and Villains much like Sloop John B and Pet Sounds the year before (in late 65) for Pet Sounds.

The combination of the voice, organ and guitar on the verses is just ethereal.

I read somewhere initial Brian wanted Dennis to sing lead. That would have been interesting to hear even as an outtake!

How did you get the single tracked vocals? They sound like isolated master tape vocals.

I think I isolated them from one of The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra videos.

If you hear a really high line sung, that's Brian doing his falcetto head voice mix sound thing he was famous for.

I really love how all the different parts, including what instruments are played & by whom played as well as all the singing parts are listed. This is teaching me a lot & of course I have always loved The Beach Boys, especially Brian & Carl & this is an extra favorite song too❤❤❤❤

Carol Kaye played the sessions but her takes (or sections she played on) didn't make the final cut! All the bass players in the Wrecking Crew at the time were equally excellent in my perspective.
