Great video! I just upgraded to the Nexus S from my old Nexus One. After using the N1 for over a year, the difference is definitely noticeable with the new Nexus S. The screen is much more vibrant, and overall has a quicker feel to it. However, it must be noted that the N1 can definitely hold it's own and will never leave my side as a backup device. Still quite a fast device, and I've never had problems with the capacitive buttons on mine. All-in-all, both phones are fantastic!

I got a HTC Desire and it's basically the Nexus One with HTC Sense on it (even tho I use LauncherPro with alot of nice customizations like dock icons). I would definately not upgrade from N1 to NS, I feel it's the same phone with a more updated OS (N1 will get 2.3 update) so there you go.

@mattatwar The phones are VERY .. VERY .. VERY close spec wise , the OS is identical ( Gingerbread 2.3.4. ) and the battery life , speed and ease of use .. the same. The only thing that sets it appart i supose is : if you like the feel of cheap plastic in your hands, get the Nexus S if you like the feel of metal and teflon in your hands, take the Nexus One. I had my nexus one for over 1 year and it's awesome. The phones are identical in terms of OS, battery life, screen resolution and speed.

@Khabeny plastic bodies are lighter and make the phone more compact and lightweight. also, a NFC chip cannot work on a metallic back .also i'll tell you metallic body is a very good conductor of electricity......so if by accident your phone comes in contact with a magnet or is in a magnetic or electric field, it will be destroyed from the inside. this is the reason why many manufacturers, like apple , samsung, sony erricson, motorolla, LG, dell, etc are going for plastic/cornered gorilla glass

nothing surprising in these findings. just from looking at the system specs, the S has... 1. slightly faster processor. 2. better screen resolution. 3. way more memory. 4. longer-lasting battery. of those 4 things, i only wish the nexus one had the memory and battery. along with google hurrying the hell up with gingerbread.

@Khabeny see there is a reason why google preferred Samsung over HTC this time. HTC use batteries that don't have a large capacity. the htc desire HD has a 1300mAh battery, it lasts only 6 hrs under normal use...imagine such a large screen and such a measly battery....samsung uses 1500mAh which is the largest battery today. also the screen, super amoled has very high contrast and saves a lot of battery and samsung is not ready to give htc its super amoled or amoled panels so htc's stuck with lcd

Something this video did not mentio which will WORTH the upgrade: Multi-touch versus Dual-touch (which is very erratic), The Nexus One's Soft Bottom buttons are hard to tap on, so you have to click them a little bit higher to be able to activate them. BUT, Nexus S will miss the colourful trackball and the microSD slot. So... your choices guys. I might go for Nexus S for the screen size and MUTLITOUCH.

@kahuna3901 yes, but android system keep saving the cache, so when you opening the google earth that had been opened several times, it's faster than the google earth that only had opened one or two times so, the web that android browser had been opened so, it's obvious that nexus s will be faster on comparison fair comparison is when both of the devices has the same software and had been restored on the same time and used on the same proportion

The nexus S is meant to be lightweight, in addition if you drop the Nexus S, due to its lesser weight, damage is less likely to occur. In addition, feel doesn't really mean anything and the Nexus S is actually less likely to break compared to the Nexus One.

The Quadrant app didn't run properly on the Nexus S - it completely borked the first time, the second it still didn't render the 3d scenes correctly so that benchmark might not be accurate. All in all, not nearly enough to warrant an upgrade, plus the lack of microSD is a deal breaker for me. Gingerbread is nearly here for the Nexus One, anyway. Wait for the LG Optimus 2X.

@robertlam18 It has different processor architecture. (Hummingbird vs Snapdragon) The OS has to be re-compiled. That was usually why older version of Android seemed to be faster on Snapdragon devices since it was not optimized enough for Hummingbird.
