iEdge_ yeah I know lol let's not forget on gaming it does better too at loading games from what I seen. Point is, I would never pay that much for a phone that will now only get 2years if not mistaken for updates? This is outrageous and any real Google Nexus fan, I know it's not Nexus anymore but we were used to great specs at an affordable price and so far a good camera is still not justifying the price.

HTC 10 is a good option when compared to pixel if not better. The audio quality is miles better. You get good Google drive offers with HTC 10( I got 100GB free storage) so storage is not an issue. HTC looks so much better, you can get it for cheaper than pixel. HTC is better value. The downsides I can see are camera isn't as good on HTC and Google will get the updates faster and lack of stock Android. Although HTC sense is among the cleanest skin out there.

I was really honestly dissapointed when I realized Google didn't require htc to build in their audio on pixels. That fact, useless antiapple and pure marketing 3.5 and missing 64gb model are simply unforgivable flaws that deffinetly eliminated pixels as my next phone. And, sure, their unrealistic price. Simply too flawed phone for the price. Htc 10 is incomparably better buy.

3165dwayne why? just because I don't have 600$ headphones my experience is invalid? Don't get me wrong, I love good audio (and I'm the pickiest person when it comes to visual fidelity...hell I even spent nearly 5grand to have the best OLED experience) I even went to demo those 1000$ shure headphones to see if there is a significant difference (and no not worth it for daily media consumption, maybe for music producers it is) I bought a 300$ dollar pair from etymotic (or however you spell that companies name) and struggled to get significantly better performance (had to download FLAC files and high quality audio in order to even get good peformance on a significant DAC). So although phones like the VG20 that have a good DAC can have a noticeable difference in loudness and clarity they pale in comparison to real high end DACs with lossless audio files and expensive headphones...not even considering your giving up better phone experiences for a minor upgrade in audio fidelity. So no not worth it. I'd wager that most audiofiles have iPhones/Samsung phones anyways 😑.

I bought a Pixel XL as soon as Google started discounting them. Got a 128Gig XL for a bit over $600. One of the big motivators in doing this was that the new Pixel wasn't going to have a headphone jack and I wanted one. This, it turns out, was a bad decision. I didn't realize how bad the Pixel XL was. So, now that I have Oreo, do you think it will support an external DAC?

The iPhone 6S had good audio in airplane mode, otherwise, there was radio interference... no mention of that in this video. The Pixel XL doesn't seem to have that problem. That's a pretty big deal. With efficient headphones (I use 15ohm CIEMS) and couldn't be happier (for mobile.)

You`re completly right, it`s kinda impudent to put such bad audio components into a device that costs almost 1000$ (or euros over here), even more so when considering the fact that these dac and amp chips for mobile devices are dirt cheap (like 2 - 4$) when buying in bulk. The prices are avaiable at websites from texas instruments, akm, cirrus logic etc. It seems that despite chinese manufacturers like Vivo, Zte and some others there`s only HTC and LG left when you want good audio quality, and that usb-c audio trend will make it even worse.

Oh come on google, there are so many options out there for a good dac and amp, anything other than what seams to be the standard package embedded in the qualcomm chipset. I mostly enjoy my audio on my phone, when I'm commuting, at work or at the gym, and until not long ago I would be happy with the old iPod headphones, but once I tried something better I got used to it and its difficult to go back. One of the reasons for me ditching the P9 plus for the S7 edge, was it's terrible audio performance, huge cross talk causing lower volumes and some loss in dynamic range. I won't even bother with the USB audio thing, because the whole is a mess on some phones. And Bluetooth can be nice, I had a mx400, it was ok, but I still have to find earphones that are good, I'm not a fan of headphones.

It's the usual story here, charge as much as you think you can get away with and offer as little as you think you can get away with. I like the blue colour of that device now but the white bezels are jarring to say the least, they should've been the same colour as the back.

I think, they put dual vents to fool the not-so-tech people, who buy such crappy phones just by looking at them, assuming that it has stereo speakers, and end up throwing away their 3/4 grand.

Tell me, what kind of difference would it make for Bluetooth headphones like the Jaybird X2s? I'm not sure really if the different hardware would make as much of a difference in Bluetooth. It seems especially important though with the rise of the death of 3.5mm audio on smartphones.

My Jaybirds work flawlessly with my Pixel. They connect instantly and resume my playback right away.

John Ellis III what about the audio quality though from a pixel to a laptop or different phone?

Dylan White i have a decent MSI laptop with a sound card, can't hear a difference going from my bose headphones to the phone or laptop. Bluetooth is instant. No delay. It connects right up and plays the audio. I use Google play music for everything.

Bluetooth signal is digital, meaning you are only transferring the raw data. The conversion to sound and the amplification of the sound occurs after the signal has been received. So, most phones should sound the same over Bluetooth.

0:37 Is the blue already starting to chip along that chamfered edge? If that's the case, looks like the silver one might be best for someone like me. I take care of my phones and that would drive me nuts.

Understanding that people still use wired headsets, in the Bluetooth area the Pixel XL sounds better than the S6 edge plus I just upgraded from.

I was deciding between this and v20. But I ultimately chose the v20 for its better audio. Plus there's not much different other then a slightly not as great camera and oled screen

I thought the end was going to be Juan tapping the speaker hole making a "rainy blocked bottom firing mono speaker sux" remix of the music 😁
