Analyzing this scene makes it a thousand times stronger. First the music: The song used in this scene is called: 'Ragnar Dreams of Home' wich is almost exactly the same as the song later used in the scenes of Ragnar's Death called: 'The Vikings are Told of Ragnar's Death'. This alone makes it come full circle. The flashback to his past and the destiny that awaits him. Secondly, the battle against his drug addiction symbolises his addition to adventure and taking risks in life, for the good and the bad. The things he told his son Björn about what it is to be King. The speech he later gives to his men why he is King and that he didn't actively choose it but it came on his path. While he often says he dictates his own destiny not the gods. The drugs confront him with his inner struggles and battles wich he cannot suppress nor escape. Ragnar was just another human being, a man with flaws. And all men will eventually be confronted with their choices, successes and flaws. This scene is soo damn powerful in soo many ways. Travis was born to play this role.

Wish so bad that was what I had in this life. I do have 2 amazing kids, well youth now. They’re mother divorced me after my deployment to Iraq. Met another woman 8 years later got married and my kids loved her she was amazing, but she battled with bipolar disorder and eventually she committed suicide. A year after that my kids found they’re mother overdosed in the bathtub on what I think was fentanyl. A yeah later I met another amazing woman. She was a child psychologist, lol what I needed. We married and soon after we both caught Covid. She passed away a month later. She never drank or used drugs. She’d never had a baby and wanted one and was afraid to get vaccinated. I’ve basically given up on love. At the age of 39 I can’t go through the loose of another. I’m focusing on my kids more these days. Daughter age 15 and son 20. It’s taken me quite some time to realize they’re what matters. Them and God. I was so mad at God for so long and I’m just now realizing he didn’t do any of this to hurt me. Thank you for sharing real northern news man lol Now I need to get off the pot and get back to work 😂

It still saddens me to know that Ragnar died, not having fulfilled his true dream. Living a normal life. Living to the fullest extent side by side with the people he loved and cared for. Lagertha, Björn, Gyda and even Athelstan. These people are who Ragnar wanted to spend his every minute with. Sailing with them to see new lands and cultures. But at the end of the day, returning to their farm, knowing they’re living like they were supposed to. It really depresses me, knowing what could’ve been.

This scene wrecked me. Great music, the way it was put together, really showed how it all came together, but also came apart for Ragnar.

Such a beatiful written show on the outside it looked like hes the king of the world but all he wanted was his love lagertha rollo and his kids and he only got one. He was king for his people he never wanted it. And the show made us feel the regret that he felt

I think every man has a moment like this in his life at some point. Everything slows down and you reflect on your actions and choices, those you have loved, those you have hurt, those you have lost, the warm moments and the dark hopeless moments.. it's almost overwhelming. When my son was born i had this exact moment.. I realized that it was my responsibility to raise that boy into a man and when I looked in the mirror I asked myself "are you the type of man you want your son to be?" I looked over at my new born son and his eyes were just locked on me with pure trust and love. It broke my heart but set me to purpose.

Ragnar was tripin ballz😳 In that moment you can see who Ragnar truly was and what he cared about. Whatever that chinese witch had him hooked on screwed him and everyone else along with him. She almost deserved to be strangled in that river in Frankia.
