@@AirPhotography mounting on cymbal stands, speaker stands, and all kinds of tubes. The tiny camera that is unobtrusive yet provides beautiful wide angle shots make it attractive to many musicians, at least when there ir sufficient lighting on “stage”. Thanks for the video - its nice to see you! On a conventional bike with caliper brakes, there is some adjustment on the carrier that holds the pad, which means you can “toe in” the pads a bit so the entire surface is slightly out if parallel with the rim. This usually reduces the squeal.

Hi Shawn. You could put a small amount of copper grease on the rear of the pads. That should stop the squeaking 👍
@lazurm
9 ай бұрын
Copper grease is generally not recommended for use on bicycle disc brakes. While it may help to reduce noise in some cases, it can also contaminate the brake pads and rotors, reducing braking performance and potentially damaging the brakes. In some cases, it can also cause the brakes to seize or lock up. If you are experiencing disc brake squealing, there are a few other things you can try before resorting to copper grease: Clean the brake pads and rotors: This is often the simplest and most effective solution. Use rubbing alcohol or a specific disc brake cleaner to remove any dirt, grease, or oil from the pads and rotors. Bed the brakes in: This process involves applying repeated short bursts of braking force to heat up the pads and rotors and create a transfer layer of pad material on the rotor. This can help to reduce noise and improve braking performance. Try different brake pads: Different brake pad materials have different noise characteristics. If you are using resin pads, you may want to try switching to sintered pads, which are typically less prone to squealing. If you have tried all of these other solutions and you are still having problems with disc brake squealing, then you may want to consider using copper grease. However, it is important to use a very small amount of grease and to apply it only to the back of the brake pads. Do not get any grease on the front of the pads or the rotors. Here are some tips for using copper grease on bicycle disc brakes: Use a very small amount of grease. Apply the grease only to the back of the brake pads. Do not get any grease on the front of the pads or the rotors. Be careful not to contaminate the grease with dirt or debris. If you are not comfortable using copper grease, you can take your bike to a qualified bike mechanic to have the brakes serviced.

My concern is whether this Boom Arm is long enough for vlogging on a normal mountain bike or road bike. The GoPro has to be raised up quite high and be placed quite far forward in order to turn the camera around and have it facing you. That's difficult to do on a regular bicycle. Your e-bike has a different geometry. It is more like a scooter with the seat being lower than the handlebars and the rider sitting far back. On a traditional bicycle, the seat is even with the handlebars and the rider sits more forward and leans over the top of the handlebars. In that case, the GoPro has to be placed higher and farther forward in order to face back towards the rider. This Boom Arm is only 21 inches fully extended. And I don't know if that is long enough. To my eye, it looks too short. A useful test for me would be to see someone using it on a mountain bike instead of an e-bike like that. As I said, the geometry of an e-bike is more like a scooter than an actual bicycle that this Boom Arm is designed for.

Apparently will be able to order additional arm links. I don’t know what that will do to stability. But with stabilization it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
@PlanetDoug
Жыл бұрын
@@AirPhotography Interesting. I hadn't thought of that possibility. I thought this was its maximum length. Adding one arm link would definitely make it long enough for how I'm thinking of using it. Of course, that does raise concerns for how stable it would be at that length. But perhaps the "Triangulation Support Slider" could be used in that situation to add a supporting arm from underneath. Thanks for the feedback.

Shawn take rubbing alcohol and and wipe down your inside brake pads. You can put alcohol in a spray bottle and spray inside the area and it will dry instantly. I prefer to remove the pads which is rather easy in 5 seconds. When oil or grease gets on the rotor or wheels, this will cause the squeakiness. Check them and change them immediately Shawn.

If the pad or rotor is contaminated though nothing will get the squeal out. Getting new pads and rotors is the only way. If you don’t replace both you’ll just been in the same place after one ride. I’ve been riding my disc brake bike for 4 Oregon coast winters with no contamination. Plus some cheaper hydros will leak and contaminate everything.

Disc brakes are quite hard to make squeak-free. I have to count on the experts at my local bike shop for that. For do it yourself, the discs need to be absolutely clean and true. There are straightening tools out there for the job or just use a crescent wrench. But having the experience to do it right escapes me. I assume clean pads at the same time as clean discs. I have heard there isa correct cleaning fluid, but not sure what it is. Probably not isopropanol.
