I wish most demo/reviews were like this showing them in different context. I remember your stuff from back when with your EVOLVE Definitive Guide videos. Consistently excellent material. Congrats!

Great video! Thanks for putting it together. I bought the Retro Pack and a midi Brush pack... Looking for a swing groove for a song i was working on. The drums are all centered in the stereo field so you might have to do some panning if you want to have some left and right in the mix. It really would have been awesome if a pan control would have been on the screen with the faders. But for $35 bucks I'm not complaining. The eq on the drums is great right out of the box! (But there is no box-lol)

I’ve never understood the mixer. I like each kit piece on its own track in my DAW. That way, I can add plugins I like kit piece by kit piece, and control the velocities and midi details at a granular level. What’s the point of “kits are already mixed when you open them”? Don’t get me wrong. Multi-sampled, layered, velocity mixed drums sound better and are more realistic - that’s all good.

already mixed is for people who don't want to take the time to mix drums for 2 hours before moving on to guitars, bass, etc... If you don't play drums, you probably won't enjoy the experience, especially if your instrument is something else. Some people prefer performing over the technical side of mixing.

The point of Handy Drums is to give you a production-ready kit that doesn't need any adjustment. They keep the controls simple and easy to use for that reason.

the fact that I can install the software, put the folder in the correct location, load the plugin and NOT get a single drum sound or re-map anything in the trial version is making be delete the plugin/app immediately. Logic Pro X 2023. Will not be purchasing. What's the point of a trial if I can't hear anything?

May I ask, I’m using Logic Pro and as I see in your video you are listening to the midi files directly in the program you are using so you can preview the midi files. I don’t seem to be able to do that. Do you have any suggestions?

Stupid question I think, but these don't come with any midi drum files to plug in correct? You have to either write your own or load somebody's third party stuff correct?

You can buy midi packs with fills and patterns already created. You can use the midi data with any of the drum sets.

I have a question. I don't use a midi trigger so can I modify a beat when I drag it in? I use native instruments now and thats what i like about it. I can change where the snare hits, kick, etc..
@BenoniStudio
2 жыл бұрын
Sure. You can drag some MIDI in and change it around however you want. Or you can program in your own MIDI with a keyboard or the pencil tool in your DAW.

You wouldn't "put the sound IN your edrums" You would connect MIDI or a USB cable to your computer and trigger the sounds with your drum pads.

No other FX plugins were used. It wouldn't be fair to use plugins to change the sound if the viewer doesn't have the same plugins. With raw sounds you can know how it will sound out of the box and use whatever plugins you prefer to get the sound you personally like.

im a metal dude from the early 2000's. Had it before "it was cool" and before the explosion of girls getting tiny little gauge septum piecings. Part of being a metal vocalist and guitar player and lyricist is being kinda insane 🤣 And the look is "unpleasant" that's kinda the point - like a viking warrior with his armor and spear, or a south american tribal warrior with a boar tusk through his nose - adornments have been used for centuries to send signals to others in a society. And I get your point. Today, people want to look however they want and still be accepted by society in every position. They want 50 holes in their head and to be in a high paying job around people. I too and disgusted by the people who think they deserve to be accepted in society after they destroy the norms of that society. Part of looking like a "freak" is knowing there any many jobs you cant get, many people who wont accept you, and you will be on the outside. That is how its supposed to be. The second society started accepting extreme piercings and tattoos into society there was an explosion of people who went down the road of body-modification that should not have gone down that road because all societal consequences have been removed. And that directly lead to other more dangerous forms of young adult rebellion that arent so easy to reverse. Society owes it to its ancestors to maintain order for the survival of the species. Social constructs are needed to promote a sense of belonging and togetherness, and social pressures, peer-pressure, to maintain an agreed upon appearance are important to the fabric and texture of a well run society. However, society also needs its freaks and those who are more extreme and live on the outside to be a mirror of their own preconceptions and to provide an angle of the world that can be glimpsed in a safe way without destroying the order needed to maintain social cohesion. TL;DR While most people should not go down the extreme tattoo and piercing road, I'm a metal dude and couldn't give two craps about how im perceived, and i'm fine with being discriminated against for how I look and actually think its a good thing and society should do more of it. (*not governmental discrimination, but societal - we all have the right to look how we want, but most should conform because you will be happier in the long run) Happy New Year 🎇
