+Joseph Gregory In the UK, after the 9pm watershed, there's a limit for how many swear words are allowed in an hour (the limit differing depending on the word and how "offensive" it is). I worked at a farm over the summer back in 2015 and an old guy, who was suppose to be an expert on farming, showed up and took control of everything. He was just like Ramsey. He was like this for 3 days, I had no problems with him at all, I was actually laughing when he was talking to the rest of the folks.. Later on day 4, he came into the rig and was standing next to me, where I was packing salads. He started packing next to me for no reason. After 30 seconds he asked me "what do you think of me?". I smiled, kept looking at my work, doing my job and I said "I think you are funny.." He didn't say anything, but I eyeballed him discretely, only to see a smile on his face... Since then, we had mutual respect and he was giving me different jobs, that required more responsibility.. And we worked over the whole summer like this happily until I had to go back to my studies.. Hello, cook here. Generally, the pop-culture sphere surrounding restaurants paints the industry up with shows like kitchen nightmares, hell's kitchen, etc, as an enviroment where shouting at eachother is expected, however, this kind of behaviour is actually very detrimental to any professional kitchen. You might be able to squeeze a bit more work out of someone by shouting at them in the moment, but this kind of abuse is horrible in the long run and is a big reason for why restaurants can have such high turnover rates in staff. Couple this with restaurant workers being some of the most affected by the pandemic, minimum wages, and one of the more stressful jobs available and the picture becomes clearer. I will personally never respect gordon, because he has through his shows done a lot of harm to many a kitchen enviroments. You can easily tell if someone is a hobbycook because they call themselves chef and watch gordon ramsay, meanwhile the actual kitchen worker reads anthony bourdain and is way too tired to cook at home.

There is absolutely no excuse for this behavior. He was hurtful, personal, unprofessional and incredibly vile. If we defend wrong actions of someone just because he is famous and we like them, we are forfeiting our own morals and character. This wasn’t harsh. It was unacceptable behavior. Not a single reason to side with the abuser instead of the victim.

This is the worst part of GR. He berated, insulted , and literally pushed the man and told him to go home and when he tries to move out of the kitchen because the chef told him so GR simply catches him again and calls him names and tells him to go home again ! I'd rather have my head chewed straight up and be done with it for making mistakes and go right back to work and do the best I can instead of being shouted over and over for the same mistake which is simply a waste of time and it's not helping the kitchen at all.
@Bruh-zx2mc
2 жыл бұрын
Dragging someone and getting physical may have been going a step too far, but it's a professional restaurant and a chef's inability to shout at someone and simultaneously provide positive reinforcement to others doing a good job is what often gets them on Kitchen Nightmates. No doubt you've never ran a kitchen before. Nether have I but then I'm not slagging off the professional chef in front of me.
@titosumi7829

@@Bruh-zx2mc seems like you didn't understand what I said. I'm not against him being harsh with his employee. But he punished that one person thrice for one mistake and wasted a good amount of time which could have been used to fix the mistake. GR tells him to fuck off , calls him back, then tells him to fuck off again . And there are other comments saying that he regrets being like this in his younger days except he's done this again and again in other shows . I've never worked in a professional kitchen but I've worked in the hospitality industry and I've seen what angry chefs do when people screw up and it's quite scary the way they get angry. But they usually Don't focus on insulting the people under them .they let it rip and then get back on track. GR isn't perfect as talented and great as he is. He can be a total douchebag at times and it's okay to call it out when you see it👍
