@@simonc3112 No shit, genius. Royce was taking down roided guys in the 90's. Roids help, but they don't make you more technical. Ryan is big and technical, Ralek had exactly 0% chance of winning.
@simonc3112
3 жыл бұрын
@@anklelocker2924 Wow, what an idiot you must be... you are comparing Royce taking down people in NHB (before it was even called MMA) during an era when the sport had not even evolved to that extent yet with now?? Royce was taking down some guys that didn't know shit about grappling, let alone submissions. Jiu Jitsu was a totally new concept to most people here. A lot of the competition you'd see in the UFC looked more like people that were bar room brawlers rather than world class competitors. Now everybody knows too much... a Royce Gracie would never be able to do something like that today... even in the early 2000's (which we all saw). I never said they make you "more technical," I'm not doubting that he has technical ability, and he's an awesome grappler. I don't know how they designate their weight classes in Metamorphis (this actually looks like a small-time gym match up rather than a professional organization), but he's obviously bigger, regardless of his being more technically sound than Ralek, weight advantage has a lot to do with things actually, but that's actually not exactly the point here... he has taken an immense amount of steroids, which is CHEATING. It's unfair competition.
@simonc3112
3 жыл бұрын
@Damien Rhodes That's a good question. He might be. I'm sure they don't test for it at the big Metamorphis events in Japan, let alone here where it was taking place in a gym. It's just that with Ryan, it's rather obvious... it's almost impossible to say "might," but you have a good point. So many people are nowadays and it's ruined the sport.

Gordan's (and Danaher's) intention was to show how well Gordan outclassed Gracie. It was Danaher's plan. The game plan was to get a submission at the 10 min mark, which is why every time he achieved a dominant position, he just gave it up to show everyone how quickly he can reachieve it. Also, Danaher was playing a PsyOp. Every time a note-worthy objective was achieved, Danaher made sure to speak up and proclaim the compromised position Gracie was in. It was a match up of two incredibly different levels of skill.

I feel both men competed very well. It takes some courage and a open mind to go out there and compete. Ryan did amazing Ralek showed up and competed bottom line. NO NEED TO DISRESPECT EITHER MAN.

dude ralek got fucking manhandled. He would have done everyone a service by making the main event between gordon and an actual BJJ competitor. That was difficult to watch.

roycegracie11 he didn't show him any mercy but he absolutely butchered him. That was about as savage as it gets. This was like when Doninick Cruz fought that Ninja in his gym. Some opposition but really just a delayed crushing.

Gordon Ryan was trained by John Danaher who was trained by Renzo Gracie. So this is still a victory by the Gracie Family.

Such total top pressure dominance. Training etiquette question though: is knee on neck commonly frowned upon when training at home with your teammates?

defcon I don't do it to training partners because I weigh 230lbs & that wouldn't be "keeping it playful" lol! It might be ok for someone a lot lighter.

It is a nasty technique and won't go over well in casual training I would only practice that with partners that you have a good training relationship with. A stranger is going to think your being a jerk at best and at worst, may really make you pay. It is a legit control technique though as seen here and in competition or hard sparring, go for it.

MMAbadboy indeed. It’s so annoying when people say “the gracies are arrogant” like they are some amalgam. There are A LOT of Gracies. There are some whom are arrogant for sure but there are others who are really just humble martial artists.
